Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 18

The faint trace of an unfamiliar perfume lingered in the air—a scent that clearly belonged to another woman.

Tyler shook himself free from his thoughts.

A memory of Emilia from just the day before flickered in his mind: gentle, pure, standing there like a lily in full bloom.

She was nothing like the woman in front of him now.

Perhaps, he thought, it was just their profession that made them seem alike in certain ways, a similarity in grace or poise. With that in mind, he managed to let go of his unease.

"The song—Vivienne has already purchased the rights, and the price met your expectations," Tyler said, his voice cold. "I hope you won't trouble her any further."

Emilia smiled.

"Don't worry," she replied. "I have nothing more to say about that song."

"Good." Tyler nodded, his gaze growing deeper, his tone even colder. "For your own sake, I hope you'll remember your promise."

Emilia just kept smiling.

Tyler turned and walked away, leaving just as abruptly as he had arrived.

Emilia watched him stride down the hallway, stopping only at the far end to gently steady Vivienne, who waited by the door.

He treated her as if she were something precious.

They left together.

A few minutes later, Emilia's phone buzzed in her hand.

She glanced at the screen. It was a message from Tyler.

[I told my grandfather you weren't feeling well yesterday and couldn't make it. This weekend, you have to come back with me to visit the family estate.]

His tone brooked no argument.

Emilia let out a soft, humorless laugh.

She didn't reply. Instead, she slipped her phone away and walked in the opposite direction.

Meanwhile, Tyler was already helping Vivienne into his car.

He buckled her seatbelt for her, but didn't start the engine right away. Instead, he glanced at his phone.

Emilia still hadn't replied.

Tyler's hand froze on the wheel. He closed his eyes. Finally, he let out a long, weary sigh.

"Don't overthink it," he said quietly. "The divorce papers are already signed. Once the waiting period is over, it'll be official."

"Vivienne, I'm with you now."

At last, Vivienne smiled and nodded softly.

"Alright, let's go home," Tyler said, putting away his phone and starting the car.

Vivienne lowered her head, a flash of satisfaction in her eyes.

This was exactly what she wanted.

She would keep pushing forward, using the wave of public sympathy to completely overshadow Emilia.

Whether it was Emilia's man or her career, Vivienne would seize it all.

That was why, the moment she heard about "Voice of the Divine," she had to join the show.

She wanted to crush Emilia entirely—ruin her, force her to disappear for good. If Emilia vanished, Vivienne could finally step into her place and claim everything that had once belonged to her.
