Ella Glenn was a formidable woman in her own right, and the Glenn family—renowned in Alden City for their luxury goods and precious stones businesses—was not to be taken lightly. The title “Ms. Glenn of Alden City” meant real power, not just a name.
Anyone who could command the respect and loyalty of both George and Ella Glenn was certainly no lightweight.
Normally, if anything came up within the Glenn family, George or Ella would handle it with ease. But as for the eldest son, Theodore Glenn—he was a mystery.
People only knew a handful of things: he was twenty-nine, had spent several years abroad, and had only recently returned to take the helm of the Glenn Group.
As these thoughts circled in her mind, Emilia decided she had better do some digging before anything else. She offered, “Maybe another day?”
Theodore’s smile didn’t waver. “Can’t you spare me just a little of your time?”
He paused, then added, “Emilia—or should I say, Serena?”
The smile on Emilia’s lips froze for a split second, but she smoothed it away almost instantly.
“You must have me confused with someone else, Theodore.” She laughed lightly. “I’ve heard of Serena, though. Isn’t she that up-and-coming singer everyone’s talking about?”
Theodore shook his head—still smiling. “I’m not mistaken.”
“After I went with George to see you perform live, I knew exactly who you were.”
He poured a little tea, then continued, “It took some effort, but I did my homework. I went to your third live show as well, just to be sure.”
“Is that enough proof for you?”
He watched her, still the picture of composure and warmth.
Emilia, however, was hardly at ease. To be so precise, he must be absolutely certain of her identity.
She realized there was no dodging this conversation tonight.
She nodded, “All right.”
“I’ve reserved a tea room,” Theodore said.
Emilia nodded again and climbed out of the car, trailing after Theodore to a secluded, tastefully decorated tea house nearby.
“Good morning, sir.”
