The Glenn Group had jumped on board as a sponsor just before the fourth livestream. Emilia remembered Christian mentioning that the company would also be involved in future talent development.
So it was only natural they’d come by now to sort out advertising details.
Still… Emilia couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened that morning.
She glanced back at Beatty, who had already averted her eyes.
“Is this about The Glenn Group?” Emilia asked.
Beatty clenched her jaw. Realizing Emilia had seen straight through her, she dropped the pretense.
“Can you honestly say you don’t want to work with The Glenn Group?” Beatty shot back. “They practically run the jewelry and luxury goods scene around here. Getting them on board is a huge boost for us. Usually they just send their staff, but this time the heir himself is overseeing things—that shows how much they care!”
She paused, eyeing Emilia with a hint of suspicion. “You must know, even though The Glenn Group is just one of the city’s ‘Big Three,’ they’re definitely the most mysterious. Maybe I shouldn’t be telling you all this, but—oh, what’s the point?”
Emilia only smiled, noncommittal.
Of course, she understood the situation even better than Beatty did.
It wasn’t just The Glenn Group. The Erickson Group and the Donovan Group all had their own hidden cards to play.
Otherwise, how else could they survive in a city like Alden?
“I’m not quitting,” Emilia said firmly, meeting Beatty’s gaze. She knew the recent upheavals had rattled Beatty’s nerves; it was understandable.
“We’ll settle things in the finals—on our own merits.”
“You!” Beatty snapped, lunging as if to tear off the mask Emilia was wearing, desperate to see who was really behind it.
But Emilia noticed the move and brushed Beatty’s hand away before she could touch her.
“That’s enough,” Emilia warned, her tone icy.
Beatty pressed her lips together, glaring at Emilia with barely contained fury.
“I’m not the one crossing the line here,” Beatty retorted. “Everyone knows you’re cozy with Christian. It’s all over the industry—he’s backing you.”
