There was another soft “meow.”

Emilia glanced over and spotted a man standing not far away.

He wore a black dress shirt and leaned casually against his car, a tote bag hanging from one hand, a floppy ragdoll cat tucked in his other arm.

It was Theodore Glenn.

“Emilia.” He caught her gaze and smiled, calling her name in that gentle, easy way.

Ever since that rumor about her and Christian had exploded, Emilia had taken to wearing a mask and baseball cap every time she came to this studio. Yet, somehow, Theodore always recognized her.

He’d offered to recommend a lawyer to her before, but she’d already found one—Lawyer Lewis—so she’d politely declined. He’d said he wanted nothing in return, but Emilia couldn’t just pretend she owed him nothing.

With that thought, Emilia walked over to Theodore.

“Is something up?” she asked, stopping in front of him.

“I sent you that video of my cat doing a backflip the other day, but you never replied,” Theodore said, giving the ragdoll in his arms a gentle shake, “so I thought I’d bring her here for a live performance.”

“Meow~” The cat mewed, her big round eyes locking onto Emilia.

“Huh?” Emilia was caught off guard.

Was this really happening?

Theodore grinned, almost childishly, “Emilia, you have to understand—when you live with a chubby cat who can do tricks, you find yourself wanting to show her off all the time.”

Emilia stared at him, bewildered, still not quite catching up with his train of thought.

Meanwhile, Theodore had already set the ragdoll on the ground, knelt on one knee, offered her a treat, and gave her a gentle pat on the head.

“Meow!”

And just like that, the cat did a perfect backflip.

Emilia’s lips parted in surprise.

She actually did it? Just because he asked?

Was she really that clever?

The cat pranced over to Emilia, nudging her leg with her head, tail held high and proud.

She meowed again, insistent and sweet.
