The moment she saw the new spin online, Emilia instantly knew this was Vivienne’s camp fighting back—a calculated move to muddy the waters and blur the whole incident.
Suddenly, social media was flooded with a different narrative:
“Tyler just brought a date, that’s all. He and Vivienne were never officially together. Didn’t Emilia also show up with Christian? If you’re going to judge, what about Emilia and Christian then?”
“At that auction, it was Vivienne who bid on the tanzanite first. She didn’t have a bidder’s paddle and had to use Tyler’s. Anyone paying attention could see it was Vivienne’s decision. When Emilia entered the bidding, it was clearly to drive up the price and target Vivienne on purpose.”
“And most importantly, Vivienne had no idea that Serena was actually Emilia. She just wanted to win the tanzanite and make a charitable donation. Meanwhile, Emilia—who knew everything—was the one playing games.”
“Exactly. Vivienne didn’t have a paddle, so you can’t blame her for that.”
...
The internet was still ablaze with arguments on both sides, but some people seemed to be swayed by the new talking points. The debate was relentless, everyone clinging to their own version of the truth.
In the chaos, the dress controversy faded into the background. Now the focus was squarely on the behavior of both parties.
Inside the lounge, Christian made a face of utter disgust from his spot on the couch. Remembering they were still on camera, he quickly raised his hand to block the phone from view as he typed out a message:
Never seen anyone like her. If she were Wyatt, I’d have knocked some sense into her by now!
Emilia glanced over at Christian, a faint smile tugging at her lips. She tapped out her reply:
She’s digging her own grave.
Christian looked at her, something sparking in his expression, as if a plan was forming.
“Remember our contingency plan, when this first blew up?” Emilia said quietly, her meaning clear.
Christian nodded. Of course he remembered.
Back when the Serena charity fraud scandal first erupted, Emilia and Tyler hadn’t finalized their divorce yet, so their plan was to buy time—to delay any public statement until the papers were signed. There was no need to wait for the grand finale; once the divorce was official, they could clear everything up.
