That tanzanite stone...
“You’ll find a detailed summary online. I’ve sent you the link,” Secretary Jensen continued, her tone steady and matter-of-fact.
Parker, meanwhile, looked deeply dissatisfied, swatting at Tyler a few more times in frustration.
But Tyler barely seemed to notice. As if immune to pain, he simply hung up the phone and tapped open the link Secretary Jensen had sent him.
...
Ten minutes earlier.
The internet was ablaze with speculation. Rumors were spreading fast—Vivienne had attended the charity gala for the sake of sick children, while Emilia was there simply to compete with her, nothing more.
Vivienne’s PR team was fanning the flames, making sure the narrative caught fire everywhere.
They were also hyping up the value of that tanzanite stone at every turn.
“That stone is valued at over a million—normally, it wouldn’t even fetch more than a hundred and twenty thousand. Vivienne made her bid, just as she said she would, but Emilia swooped in purely to outdo her. That’s what caused all the drama afterwards.”
“Exactly. If Emilia actually cared about the tanzanite, she could’ve bid from the start. It’s obvious she only jumped in because she saw Vivienne wanted it.”
“Vivienne’s whole purpose was to bring attention to sick children, to get society to care about these vulnerable kids. Emilia? She just wanted to pick a fight.”
...
On Emilia’s side, there was only silence. Vivienne seemed quite pleased with how things were unfolding.
People used to accuse her of being stingy, but now Vivienne’s team had twisted everything, spinning the story into: “She always intended to bid; her actions matched her words. It was only because Emilia deliberately tried to one-up her that Vivienne was forced to back down.”
In short, the current mess was all Emilia’s fault—not Vivienne’s.
Everyone in the lounge was impressed by the audacity.
“Her PR team’s something else. I mean, look at that spin,” Cindy remarked, shaking her head in disbelief. “I wonder where she finds these people.”
Christian nodded in agreement. “Remember that post from her team a while back—‘Her kindness makes her an angel watching over you. The word “saint” should never be used in vain’? They really know how to build Vivienne up. Her image is bulletproof.”
