“Tanzanite stands for love and eternity, while turquoise symbolizes success and victory.”
“If it were up to me, I’d choose tanzanite.”
“Because I want to tell our baby that Mom and Dad will always love him.”
Tyler’s hand trembled as he gripped his phone.
The child’s birthstone…
Yet, right in front of her, he’d raised his paddle, outbidding her with twenty-five million dollars to claim that very tanzanite.
And it had happened while Vivienne was bidding too.
She must think he gave the stone to Vivienne.
He could see it now, that deep blue tanzanite locked away in his apartment safe.
Its sapphire glow seemed to pierce through memory, burning his eyes.
The air around him felt sucked dry, and a wave of dizziness washed over Tyler.
“What the hell is going on?” Parker barked. “Is that woman—Vivienne—causing trouble again?”
But Tyler only shook his head.
He staggered to his feet and turned to leave.
“Tyler, where are you going?” Parker shouted after him.
Tyler didn’t stop.
Thud!
Parker hurled his cane, striking Tyler hard on the leg.
Tyler stumbled but kept walking, not looking back.
Meanwhile, Seven and his team hurried after him—
“So now it all makes sense. Emilia came to the gala and gave up the stone just because the bidder happened to be number three. That’s why everything spun out of control.”
“Seriously, who could tolerate that?”
“Exactly! She was all lovey-dovey with her own husband, showed up in a wedding-gown-inspired dress, and still bid for her own stone!”
