Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 320

Felix paused at the doorway, unsettled by what he’d overheard. He stepped inside.

“What are you two talking about?” he asked, his voice casual but edged with curiosity.

“Felix!” Both doctors inside turned. They were his colleagues—one tall, the other lean and wiry.

Felix nodded a greeting. “I just heard you mentioning Vivienne.”

The two exchanged a glance, then nodded in unison.

“It’s odd,” the tall doctor said. “She came to see me a while back, asked for her medical records and some painkillers. I suggested she get a full workup, maybe see if there was any hope of recovery or at least extending her life. She refused.”

He paused, frowning. “At the time, I didn’t think much of it. But then it happened again, almost the exact same thing.”

The thinner doctor nodded. “Didn’t she try to—well, slit her wrists? But after we stitched her up, she just left. I asked her to get checked out, but she wouldn’t.”

“I don’t get it,” the thin doctor said, shaking his head. “Usually, the only people who refuse further tests are those who can’t afford it. But that’s not her situation.”

Again, the two doctors looked at each other, both frowning in confusion.

Felix listened, his brow furrowing, the sense of unease growing.

It really didn’t add up.

“Her medical records are at Solmaris, right?” Felix asked.

The tall doctor nodded, but then shrugged the whole matter off, steering the conversation toward what they’d have for lunch.

Felix, however, couldn’t let it go. It gnawed at him until he picked up the phone and called Emilia, filling her in on everything he’d learned.

Emilia agreed—something didn’t sit right. She remembered she’d already asked Christian to reach out to the people at Solmaris.

“I’ll remind Christian to follow up,” she said.

“Good,” Felix replied. After a moment’s thought, he started reaching out to some old friends from medical school himself.

The McCarthy family had been in medicine for generations, with connections all over the field.
