Emilia looked up and met Parker’s easy smile.
“If you lose,” he said, “then whatever the lawsuit claims, you’ll have to pay triple that amount if you want to buy everything back.”
Her eyes stung with the threat of tears.
If they really took Tyler’s suggestion and went to court, even the first hearing could drag on for six months, and then there’d be an appeal. After that came the execution of the judgment, the endless paperwork, and if anyone decided to stall, this could stretch out for another year or two.
Now, Parker was giving her a chance to reclaim the Dennis family’s assets quickly.
Emilia glanced at Tyler, who kept his head down, face unreadable as he studied the documents.
Catching Emilia’s gaze, Parker smiled reassuringly. “Don’t worry. I have the authority to make this call.”
Then he turned to Vivienne.
“You’ve wanted to join the Erickson family, haven’t you? Here’s your chance.” He tapped the agreement. “You’ve seen the terms. If you win, our family will officially accept you. But if you lose, I want you to post a public apology to Emilia across every platform—and leave Alden City for good.”
He paused, softening his tone just a touch. “Considering your health, we’ve set the timeline at three months. That gives you two months afterward to plan the wedding, if you pull it off.”
Vivienne’s heart raced with anticipation.
She’d pushed Tyler about this more times than she could count, but he always hesitated. And ever since the news broke that Serena was actually Emilia, Tyler had seemed even more uncertain.
Besides, Parker and his wife had never really approved of her. But now, she finally had a legitimate shot—as long as she could win.
Everyone bent over the agreement, reading carefully.
Emilia took it all in: Three months for each side to work on their own project.
Afterward, under Parker’s supervision, a team of professionals would evaluate both projects and score them. Whoever got the higher score would win.
The scoring would be based on how much profit was made, expenses, the complexity of the project, and other factors. The biggest weight? Return on investment.
