Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 389

He spoke as he pulled out a napkin, gently wiping the bit of sauce from the corner of her lips.

“But honestly, I still think nothing beats the food back home.”

Something seemed to cross his mind. His expression froze for a split second, and a muscle twitched at the corner of his mouth.

“What’s wrong?” Emilia took the napkin from his hand to clean herself, eyeing him with curiosity.

“Just remembered a certain someone’s culinary disasters…” Theodore replied.

George Glenn and Ella Glenn’s cooking skills were, to put it kindly, subpar.

Emilia caught his drift and nodded in agreement.

She’d seen it for herself the last time she visited Glenn Manor. George had insisted on showing off his “signature dish,” bragging about a recipe he’d just mastered. In the end, he’d managed to steam an egg custard into something that looked more like a lump of coal than actual food.

The two of them kept chatting as they ate their cold noodle salad, laughter mingling with the gentle night breeze. They seemed perfectly at ease with each other.

Nearby, the couple running the food stall finally finished preparing their snacks and headed to the back to check on their children, murmuring softly between themselves.

No one noticed the sleek black Rolls-Royce parked a short distance away.

Inside, Raymond Kaufman scrolled through the fresh photos on his phone, sighing in resignation.

He’d planned to swoop in and claim credit after Emilia dropped Bella off—after all, he was the one who started that online poll today, a surefire way to whip up public opinion and boost the Blue line’s visibility.

But while staking out the orphanage, instead of catching the perfect moment, he ended up snapping shots of Theodore tying Emilia’s shoelaces, and now, the two of them sharing dinner together.

“They look awfully cozy…” Raymond muttered under his breath.

“I thought I’d made it back in record time, but Theodore, you sly fox, beat me to the punch!”

He flipped through the photos, watching as the pair finished their meal and tossed their trash before heading out.

“I can’t be the only one suffering here,” he decided, scrolling through his contacts. With a few taps, he sent the photos on.

Meanwhile—

Tyler had already returned to his apartment.

He lay alone on the couch, staring up at the pale ceiling, lost in the same question that had haunted him for days.

It all went back to that conversation with Sophia Raine, and the advice she’d given him.
