“Once Bella’s paperwork is sorted out, you, your mom, and Bella should move in with me.”
“There are several houses on the property—you and your mom can have separate places, but you’ll all be within the same grounds. It’ll make things easier for visits in the future.”
Theodore was well aware of the complicated relationship between Emilia and Paisley.
He also knew just how tangled Emilia’s feelings were.
He squeezed her shoulder gently. “Emily, will you let me take care of you?”
Emilia looked up at him.
He’d just said something like this a moment ago. Moving in together—it was practically cohabiting.
She trusted Theodore wouldn’t force her to share a room with him, but it was still a big step from living alone.
“Need more time to think?” Theodore’s voice was soft, tentative as she hesitated. “Or… do you not want to?”
Emilia’s focus returned. She met Theodore’s gaze, the city lights blurring past the window behind him.
She’d already agreed to his proposal. This was just about living under the same roof.
What she’d said to Tyler earlier echoed in her own mind—what’s past is past; she needed to cherish the present.
“No,” Emilia said with a smile. “I was just thinking—I should head back and pack.”
“I’ll have Wilma bring some people over to help with that,” Theodore replied, cupping her face and pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead.
“No rush,” he said, though it was a lie. He was anything but patient; if he could, he’d fast-forward to the moment she moved in.
“Rest for a bit. Christian Donovan and the others want to have dinner with us tonight.”
He pulled her closer, and she couldn’t help but laugh softly. But as she rested against him, she drifted off to sleep.
