Tyler hit “Send.”
Unlike all the times before, when his messages had vanished into silence, this time something changed instantly.
But the only change was a glaring red exclamation mark that popped up next to his message.
He stared at it in disbelief.
She’d blocked him.
Did this mean she never wanted to hear from him again?
Tyler could hardly wrap his mind around it.
No matter what had happened between them, he’d always been able to message her—even after the breakup.
He’d thought, as long as he still held the Dennis family’s secrets, she’d have to keep in touch. As long as he had that leverage, she wouldn’t dare cut him off completely.
But now…
When had she blocked him? He had no idea.
Tyler reached for the car door, ready to storm upstairs and confront her.
But as soon as he opened it, he froze.
Not far away, Theodore’s people were standing watch. One of them noticed his gaze, smiled, and gave him a polite nod.
…
On the rooftop terrace garden, Theodore finally let Emilia go.
He pressed his forehead to hers, eyes closed, Adam’s apple bobbing as he struggled to subdue a rush of tangled emotions. Then he nipped playfully at her lower lip and gave her a crooked smile.
Emilia blushed, glaring at him in mock annoyance.
“Bella’s still here…” she reminded him, lowering her voice.
“I didn’t see anything,” Bella called out brightly. “I’m just playing with Ginger!”
