Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 47

The show's format was simple: stream the event live first, then edit the highlights into a polished episode for release. This way, both types of viewers—those who loved the raw excitement of live TV and those who preferred a neatly packaged show—would be satisfied.

Tonight was the season's first live broadcast, mostly an introduction of the guests and contestants, followed by team selections. Twelve contestants would be split among three celebrity mentors. One was Vivienne, the other two were both acclaimed singers with established reputations in the music world.

Emilia moved carefully across the stage, mentally tracing her marks. There had been a rehearsal, but she'd only watched remotely—her health had been too frail to participate in person. Most of her coordination with the crew and other contestants had happened over group calls and messages.

There had been rumors swirling about Serena, one of the contestants, acting like a diva. But Christian, the show's producer, had shut that down behind closed doors by quietly producing a redacted medical report. Word was, Serena had been in a serious accident just ten days ago.

Those close to the action could see it—beneath the studio lights, the makeup on Serena's arms didn't fully mask the bruises. Clearly, her absence had been due to injury, not attitude.

Emilia noticed the curious glances from staff but had no idea what was really going on. She ignored it, focusing instead on her own preparations.

A sudden commotion rippled through the backstage area. Emilia instinctively looked up—and saw Tyler.

"No way, is that really Mr. Erickson?"

"I thought Tyler never showed up at events like this?"

"Come on, take a look at the guest list."

"I bet he's here for Vivienne."

"Of course. The Erickson Group dabbles in entertainment, but their main business is high tech. Look at all the other guests and contestants—who else but Vivienne could get Tyler to show up?"

"So all those rumors online about Vivienne and Tyler are true?"

"Pretty much guaranteed."

Meanwhile, Vivienne was already at Tyler's side.

"Tyler!" she greeted him with a bright smile.

He nodded, distracted. As he glanced up, he caught sight of Christian gently guiding a woman in a long coat toward the back. Tyler recognized the silhouette.

Vivienne followed his gaze, then grinned. "That's Serena," she said. "The mysterious contestant I told you about. I suspect Christian's been keeping her as his little secret."

Tyler raised an eyebrow at her.

Vivienne explained, "She missed the last rehearsal—there was talk of her being difficult, but Christian handed over a medical report. Turns out, she'd been in an accident ten days ago and couldn't even get out of bed for the rehearsal."

She paused, her tone turning conspiratorial. "I just found out something huge. That accident? It was actually a miscarriage."
