This was getting interesting.
Very few people knew about the real situation—Vivienne had only found out by leveraging Tyler's connections, and even then, the news was classified.
For regular staff, all they'd heard was that Serena's injury was so severe she couldn't even get out of bed.
But the person in question was an artist Christian personally promoted. He might only be the third son of the Donovan family, but the Donovans were a powerhouse.
Christian himself was the CEO of Donovan Entertainment, one of the top three entertainment giants in Alden City.
He wasn't married, nor had he ever gone public with a girlfriend. If he was willing to go to such lengths for someone—personally managing every detail—it could only be for a kept lover.
Tyler didn't comment on Vivienne's analysis.
He didn't care much about Christian's affairs—but as he watched that figure just now, for some reason, he found himself strangely intrigued.
But that was all.
…
Backstage, in the dressing room.
Emilia had just finished coordinating with the staff for the final checks.
People bustled in and out. Christian had already left to handle other matters; as CEO of Donovan Entertainment, he couldn't be glued to Emilia's side. Still, he'd made a point of leaving an assistant with her.
Cindy, a cute, efficient girl with black-rimmed glasses, hovered nearby, helping Emilia get ready.
She scribbled on a clipboard, muttering as she checked things off: "Stage set, order confirmed… Serena, we're third on the lineup."
Emilia nodded lightly.
Just then, she suddenly felt someone's gaze lingering on her.
She frowned slightly and looked up—Vivienne was standing across the room, watching her.
When Vivienne realized she'd been spotted, she gave a polite smile and nodded.
Emilia merely gave her a curious glance, offering no response.
Cindy noticed and leaned in, lowering her voice. "Serena, Mr. Donovan wanted me to remind you—Vivienne has a powerful team backing her. It's not the Erickson Group; this team designs every one of her appearances and statements."
Last came Vivienne.
The moment she stepped on stage, it was clear she was different.
The spotlight caught her in a flowing white dress, ethereal and almost tragic beneath the theater lights.
"Hello, everyone. I'm Vivienne, a florist. I'm so happy to be here on this stage with all of you."
"Some of you might wonder—if I'm a florist by trade, why am I on this show?"
"Lots of people say Vivienne is just here for publicity. And what I want to tell you all is—"
"Yes, I am here for the publicity!"
Vivienne smiled, looking bold and sincere.
She stared straight into the camera, speaking each word with conviction:
"I want as many people as possible to see me—to see that I'm trying to live life in new ways. I want people to know that even if you're standing at the end of your rope, you can still live brilliantly."
