Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 93

You could say the Glenn family's strength came from everyone pulling together, each member lending their weight to the same cause. That's how the Glenns became one of Alden City's top three powerhouses.

Still, as the youngest brother, George often felt he was always a step away from getting smacked around.

"Client confidentiality is sacred. If you're still unclear on what you can and can't say, George, then do us all a favor and get out of Glenn Group. Don't drag down the company's average IQ," the glamorous woman said, sipping her tea with a sharp glint in her eye.

George nodded, abashed. He knew the rules—of course he did.

He'd just gotten carried away, that's all. It had been ages since anything this interesting had happened.

"I won't do it again, sis," George muttered, almost under his breath.

The woman finally gave a small nod, letting him off the hook—for now.

Meanwhile, someone who'd witnessed the whole exchange sat back in the shadows; no one could see his expression.

Time slipped by quickly, and before long, the break was over. Under the watchful gaze of everyone there, the intermission drew to a close.

People began filing back to their seats.

The auctioneer strode onto the stage again, presenting the tanzanite gemstone for all to see.

"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening. The long break is behind us, and now, let's continue with the most thrilling part of the night—bidding!"

He gestured to the board at his side. "Before the break, Bidder 823 offered $1.5 million for this tanzanite. Let's resume the bidding!"

Up on the second floor, Vivienne watched and listened, her eyes glinting with anticipation. She said nothing, simply scribbled a new figure on her bidding card, and lifted her number—888—for all to see.

"After the $1.5 million bid from 823, Bidder 888 has entered with a new offer: $1.8 million!" the auctioneer announced.

In an instant, the room buzzed with excitement.

"Knew it! Tyler won't let this go. At this point, it's not even about the tanzanite—it's about his pride."

"Yeah, but what's up with 823? Does she really plan to outbid Tyler with all his wealth? What's her angle?"

"Oh my god, 823 really has the guts!"

"I know! Even after the break—a perfect chance to cool off or make a private deal—823's still going toe-to-toe with Tyler. Where does she get the nerve?"

"Was there something we missed during the break?"

"I'm dying to know—someone spill already!"

As the crowd buzzed, Vivienne glanced at Tyler, silently asking if he'd raise the bid again. Suddenly, Tyler stood up and walked slowly toward the railing on the second floor.

"He's making a move! Look, Tyler's coming out!"

Standing at the edge, Tyler raised his right hand for all to see. His ring and pinky fingers curled in, his hand forming the shape of a gun.

Everyone knew what that gesture meant—he was in, no matter how high the bidding went.

He wasn't backing down. Not tonight.
