Jessica’s eyelids fluttered lightly and slowly she opened her eyes, with the morning light still shrouded in the dark cloudy sky.
It is no doubt she had woken earlier than usual. She glanced at her side, and just as she wished, Davis was sleeping peacefully.
Several files on the nightstand, and at the centre was the centre table and his laptop with some files on it.
"It seems he stayed back in the room to work?" she mused.
Otherwise, nothing could explain the reason why these documents should find their place in the bedroom.
Her gaze settled on his face as she noted the strains and tiredness on it.
She stretched out her hand and massaged it lightly. "He must be quite tired."
She made a mental note to seek out some medications that will help him cope with the stress.
Taking a trip down the memory of events that happened yesterday, she let out a helpless breath.
Yesterday had drained her so much that she slept off in the car and didn’t wake up again until this hour.
A glance around the room and she noticed the untouched food, which, if she wasn’t mistaken, had probably been served last night.
She isn’t surprised that they had remained there. With Davis’ character, he probably had Deborah reheat and serve the food over and over, and in the end, he might have her keep them waiting for when she would wake up, but then she had slept until this morning.
Taking a look down, her clothes had been changed to something much more comfortable. She rubbed her temples lightly.
"I really passed out yesterday," she muttered.
She shook her head with resignation and lay back down, her gaze on the ceiling as she took a mental glance at her schedule for the day.
<Visit her grandmother at the countryside>
<Visit the company to retrieve some files and see how they are doing>
<Check up at the hospital to take a look at the recent symptoms she’s been having.>
While still lost in her thought, she didn’t notice Davis waking up until he had his arm wrapped around her waist while he carefully pulled her closer.
"What are you thinking?"
"Nothing in particular, just thinking about a few things waiting to be done."
Davis sighed. "You are already at the end of the second trimester," he murmured.
Jessica nodded, lifting her hands to her belly. "Time flies."
His gaze settled on the bump, which was now visible that it could no longer be hidden from plain sight. "Shouldn’t you give yourself some rest?"
Jessica nodded. She was really grateful they had gone this far, but the issue of securing another rest... "That wouldn’t be necessary. To be clear, I needed to exercise more at this time."
Softly, she caressed the bump. "Also, I think after visiting the hospital, I will have to reconfirm the due date."
Davis’ hand slid down to caress her baby bump. "Davis, will you stop? It’s ticklish."
Davis paused briefly, a low smirk on his lips. "Why haven’t I discovered you are quite sensitive in this area?"
Jessica glared at him and sat up, her countenance turning serious. Davis laid on his side, his head resting on his hand, his gaze never leaving her face.
"I am visiting the countryside," she quipped.
She wouldn’t have bothered him with such a trivial matter, but then she felt it necessary to inform him since it will be a long trip.
He readjusted is position slightly "Must you go today?"
Though he already had the response in his heart as he took in the countenance of her face, but he couldn’t help not asking.
"Davis, some matters need to be handled promptly," she said, taking a deep breath.
This was her decision. She needed to sort out the problem of identity before taking a trip to the Santiagos’ for the banquet.
And aside the testing centre, her grandmother at the countryside had some explanation to do. She must have known one or two things about her.
Davis nodded lightly. "Then, let’s go together."
Jessica shook her head. "You don’t have to go with me. Besides, there is a lot for you to handle with your recent takeover," she explained.
Davis hesitated briefly. He still had a lot to say. But then, just like she said, there are some matters that need to be taken care of.
"Alright, you have to be careful," he said.
Leaving the bed, they both prepared for the day. Together, they went downstairs for breakfast.
As they stepped out of the house, two different cars were parked side by side.
