Forced Marriage: My Wife, My Redemption novel Chapter 370

Chapter 370: You have to revive the Brown Group...

Jessica pulled away from him, sitting up properly to face him as she took a deep breath.

Davis watched her intently, his unwavering gaze trained on her as thoughts swirled in his mind.

Why was she suddenly confused?

What might the problem be?

Did she have an issue with someone?

I hope she’s not about to reject attending the banquet.

Lately, he had noticed her emotions were always unpredictable.

One minute she was happy, the next she was moody, just like the incident that had landed him at the club.

Sometimes, he wondered if her pregnancy had made her more irritable.

Maybe she had a bad day and didn’t want to talk about it at the time.

He had always chosen to remain calm and not press her with too many questions, hoping she would open up when ready.

Or maybe, after giving birth, she would return to her usual self.

He had believed things would work themselves out with time.

With Jessica still silent, uttering no word, Davis asked again, his voice calm despite the trepidation in his heart, "What is the problem?"

"Do you believe it’s possible that I am a twin?" Jessica’s voice was soft, her tone skeptical.

"Twin?" Davis muttered, trying to process the question but finding no immediate answer.

He glanced at her, confused, while his mind spun with a few hypothetical questions.

If she is a twin, where has the other one been all this time?

And why was she raised alone?

Jessica sighed. "I am a twin. I have a brother, though..."

Her words cut through his thoughts, the sentence echoing in his mind and plunging him further into confusion.

"Who told you? Or did you investigate?"

Jessica rubbed her temple. She hadn’t expected breaking this news to be so exhausting.

She had always thought that once she gathered the evidence herself, it would be easier to explain.

She never expected that, at some point, she would feel even more lost.

"On my trip to Bassai Village."

"Your trip to Bassai Village? Wasn’t that two days ago?"

She nodded without comment.

Davis’s face fell as he recalled the memory of Jessica’s worn-out and tired frame when she had come into his office.

He had asked her about it, and she had simply said she was naturally tired.

Looking at her now drained and pale frame it was clear there was more she hadn’t told him.

He leaned back against the headboard, his gaze gentle but steady on her face. "What else did you find out?"

She pointed to the safe. "They’re there."

Davis’s eyes narrowed, darting between her and the bedside safe before finally settling on her.

Seeing him unmoving and silent, just staring at her, she felt her heart sink.

"Hubby, did you hear me?" she probed, but he remained silent. Jessica took a deep breath and moved closer.

Looking at his tense jaw, his cold eyes filled with swirling emotions, his pursed lips, and his clenched fists resting on his thigh, Jessica’s heart began to race. The reason for his silence was written all over his face.

He is angry.

"Can you not be angry?" she murmured softly.

"Should I not be angry, or do I not have the right to be angry?" he sneered, a mocking smile tugging at his lips.

Jessica kept quiet. Handling an angry Davis had never been her strength.

The major reason she had always kept away from him whenever he gets angry

Her silence only fueled his frustration. His voice a few decibels higher "Were you never planning to tell me? Or..."

Without thinking, Jessica placed a finger over his lips.

Right now, she preferred he stop talking; if he continued, the argument might last all night, and his anger was never easy to calm.

"I wasn’t planning to hide it from you. I just thought I’d inform you once I had concrete evidence. But right now... I’m at a loss."

"I feel like my head is splitting. I can’t make a decision at the moment. I would have asked the Santiagos to postpone the banquet if the invitations hadn’t already been sent out." Her voice was painful and frustrated.

Davis inhaled sharply. Looking at the troubled woman before him, he felt both helpless and weary.

He couldn’t bring himself to be angry with her, yet he couldn’t deny that he was hurt because she had kept silent about this for two days.

Still, he sensed there was more to it than she was saying.

"Aside from having a twin brother, what else is on your mind?" he asked gently.

Jessica’s eyes lifted to meet his. "Are you really not angry?"

"Do you prefer me being angry?" he smirked.

Jessica quickly shook her head. "No, don’t be..." she said, waving her hand anxiously. The last thing she wanted was to stir up his temper when she had no way to calm it.

"I plan to break off my relationship with George Brown after the banquet," she announced.

"What?" he exclaimed.

Jessica simply shrugged, offering no explanation.

"Have you located your twin brother?" he asked, glancing briefly at the satchel. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
