Forced Marriage: My Wife, My Redemption novel Chapter 371

Chapter 371: Are you threatened?

With Jessica and Davis’ arrival in the living room, the stylist and her assistant immediately stood, greeting them warmly, ready to spring into action at the slightest command.

Their gazes locked on Jessica’s face, studying her intently as though trying to decipher her personality.

Quiet admiration flickered in their eyes.

Several thoughts raced through their minds: what sort of woman must she be to receive such care from Davis?

The awe was evident. Even more surprising to them was the fact that, standing together, there was barely any height difference between the couple.

Jessica cast them a light glance. She hadn’t expected Davis to go so far as to hire a stylist.

Since entering her second trimester, she had found it increasingly difficult to apply certain products to her skin, they irritated her easily, and she often avoided them altogether. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

She turned her gaze upward to Davis. "Do you think I’ll even be able to have these makeups applied on me?"

Davis nodded. "You have to be at your best," he replied with a faint smirk. "So you’ll have to endure. Or... do you want me to be scolded by Grandmother? Wouldn’t she think I’ve been treating you badly all this time?"

Jessica sighed. "Troublesome," she muttered under her breath.

There is no doubt that Lady Matilda might be asking for Davis’ head if she arrived at the banquet looking less than perfect.

A few days ago, they had sent down her customized gown; at that time Jessica had made a move to reject it but Davis had countered the idea.

According to him, "It proves their sincerity and goodwill."

"Please, ma’am," the stylist said now, gesturing politely toward the seat they had prepared for her.

"You’ll wait a bit," Davis interrupted, his tone firm but calm. "She has to eat before you start."

The stylist and assistant exchanged quick glances before stepping back in silent compliance.

Jessica sat at the dining table as Deborah brought over a simple tray of dishes. She ate with quiet gusto, while Davis remained beside her, phone in hand, tapping away as he handled work matters.

Talking to Davis had helped in elevating her mood; she had felt most of the burden lifted off her shoulders.

Once she’d finished and Deborah had taken the tray away, Jessica returned for the stylist to begin her work.

She settled into the cushioned chair, folding her hands protectively over her baby bump as if shielding it from the chaos of the world, while the stylist moved with practiced precision.

"Let’s start with your hair," the woman murmured, her fingers combing through Jessica’s soft waves, admiring the natural lustre. "You’ll want it swept back to show off your neckline."

Jessica gave a small nod, watching in the mirror as loose strands fell across her shoulders.

The stylist pinned and brushed, humming under her breath. A delicate scent of hairspray filled the air.

Davis, now seated nearby with his phone on the side table, occasionally glanced over, offering suggestions with a measured tone.

Next came the makeup; gentle strokes of a brush across her cheeks, a soft natural shade on her lips, and her brow trimmed and carefully lined left the stylist humming in satisfaction.

Her skin had always been easy and soft to work on, giving her face the angelic touch. "Perfect," the stylist murmured, tilting Jessica’s chin to check the light.

When the gown was brought in, the stylist made a makeshift dressing room for Jessica to put on her dress.

Jessica stood up as the stylist helped her into the dress. The soft fabric slid over her skin, cool and smooth, settling neatly around her frame.

The soft, flowy pleated flare draped over her belly, subtly concealing the true size of her baby bump. The stylist stepped back, smiling with satisfaction.

Slowly, she removed the makeshift, revealing an elegant yet feminine lady.

Davis eyes shone with light. There is no doubt he was happy. "Beautiful," he muttered.
