Chapter 10
Lily drags her suitcase, standing exhausted at the entrance. She tucks the bandage peeking from her injured hand deeper into her sleeve.
After making sure nothing looks off, she raises her hand to knock.
“Who is it?”
Grace’s voice calls from inside.
Grace opens the door and gasps at the sight of Lily. “Lily? You actually came back?”
“I thought you were lying to me earlier.”
She turns and shouts into the house, “John Cooper! Lily’s home!”
“What?”
“Lily’s really back?”
John scrambles up from the sofa and rushes to the doorway.
He takes Lily’s suitcase inside while Grace loops an arm through hers, pulling her in.
“Why did you really come back? What about you and Victor-”
Grace doesn’t finish before Lily cuts in, “Mom, I had an accident. Lost my memory. Don’t remember anything about him.”
Hearing this, Grace immediately tries to drag Lily off for a checkup.
Lily panics, afraid Grace will spot her injury, and stops her.

Chapter 10
“I’m fine now. Really, don’t worry.”
“Before… I misjudged people. I loved someone I shouldn’t have, and wasted years chasing him.”

“Maybe this amnesia is a blessing. Let’s just take it as what my past self brought on myself.”
“That Arranged Engagement you mentioned? I refused back then… probably hurt their feelings. Now I’m back. Let me meet the man.
John and Grace burst out laughing, then pull Lily into a warm embrace. “Silly girl, what Arranged Engagement? We made that up because you kept chasing your best friend’s brother with no luck. There’s no engagement. You’re free to choose who to love—just not him. All those years you gave everything, and he never cared. That’s no way to live.”
Tears well in Lily’s eyes at her parents‘ kindness. She hugs them tighter.
“Yeah, I get it now. Maybe this amnesia is my second chance. I won’t like him ever again.”
Lily spends two blissful days at home before deciding to start fresh.
After sending out resumes, she lands an interview at the Lee Group in New York.
“Mom! Interview this afternoon. I am heading out!” Lily calls toward the kitchen while slipping on shoes.
Grace pokes her head out. “Be careful.”
Standing before the Lee Group, Lily checks the time. It is still early, so she decided to buy coffee.
“Order 627 ready!”

Chapter 10
Approaching the counter, Lily reaches for her cup but brushes another man’s hand.
“Sorry!”
She jerks back, flustered, then checks her receipt–it clearly says 627.
Puzzled, she looks up and locks eyes with the man.

He lifts his cup, showing the label. “Mine’s 626. Cashier must’ve called
wrong.”
The cashier hurries over with another cup. “Sorry, Madam! We misannounced. Here’s yours.”
Lily took the coffee, smiling as she waved her hand. “It’s fine.”
“Hi, I’m Benjamin Lee.”
The man from earlier stopped Lily and reached out to introduce himself,
“I work here too, so we might end up as colleagues.”
Hearing that, Lily finally shook his hand and replied, “Hi, I’m Lily Cooper.”
When Benjamin heard her name, it sounded familiar, but he didn’t bother
to think more about it.
“Hope your interview goes well. See you.”
