Word by word, he spoke with absolute finality.
Then without lingering, he took Sophie by the hand and turned to leave in full view of everyone.
The gazes from everyone in the room held sympathy and pity.
Emma, who’d stayed silent until now, finally rushed out.
Lily realized what she meant to do and hurried after her, catching the siblings‘ argument in the garage.
“Lily’s my best friend! Why humiliate her publicly? She’s loved you for years–can’t you show mercy for her sincerity?”
“I’ve endured her seven years. Turned her down gently countless times for your sake–isn’t that mercy enough? Her obsession only ever burdened me!”
Emma nearly lost her mind with rage, her voice raw and trembling.
“Relax–she’ll never love you again. After you abandoned her roadside last time, she got concussed in that accident…”
“I only drove her home as your favor. Why shouldn’t I ditch her on the way? Even if time rewound a hundred times, I’d choose Sophie over her every time. If she’s still bitter, tell her to stay away!”
