Chapter 30
After Rebecca returned, Vincent didn’t even go to the office anymore.
He stayed at Spring Harmony Villa day and night, having his secretary deliver company documents there for review.
The Walker family chat group buzzed with gossip about the situation.
Elizabeth nearly fainted from rage when she read the messages.
She kept calling Vincent’s phone, but he never answered.
His avoidance coated her expression in frost as she snapped at the driver, “Take me to Spring Harmony Villa.”
Vincent was in the study painting with Rebecca when he heard of Elizabeth’s arrival. His brush stilled mid-stroke be- fore he calmly told Rebecca, “I’ll go downstairs for a moment.”
Ever since Susan’s appearance, Rebecca’s relationship with Elizabeth had cooled considerably.
Hearing Elizabeth had come uninvited-and since Vincent hadn’t asked her to join-Rebecca saw no reason to greet her.
Elizabeth’s heart sank further when she saw Vincent’s detached expression.
Weighing the Walker family legacy against relatives’ accusations, she couldn’t hold back. “As head of the Walker family, Vincent, your energy should be focused on our enterprises-not indulging in σoy love nests all day.”
Vincent lowered his gaze in silence for a breath before meeting her eyes with unwavering resolve. “Mother, I’m confi- dent in handling the Walker family affairs. Where I work won’t affect my decisions. Right now, I just want to make it up to Becky. Please don’t interfere.”
His tone left no room for argument, so Elizabeth could only casually mention, “Fine, I won’t meddle. But send the two children to me.”
Vincent had never developed affection for those children and readily agreed.
After watching his mother leave, he eagerly returned to his study.
“Becky, I’ll be with you every moment from now on.”
Vincent wrapped his arms around the woman’s waist, beaming.
Rebecca’s expression remained unchanged as she responded, “Vincent, you don’t need to do this for me. I truly don’t
care.”
Without love, there’s no concern.

Vincent bit back his discomfort and pleaded, “But I care. I was wrong before. I know it now. Won’t you forgive me?”
Seeing this proud man humble himself should have delighted Rebecca, yet inexplicably, her heart grew heavier.
For the first time since their reunion, Rebecca initiated an embrace.
She sighed softly against his shoulder, “Vincent… let’s just leave the past in the past.”
After returning, she had seen the online news and learned many things-like the fate of Russell’s family, how Vincent hadn’t targeted Elijah, and how Frank had returned to work at the hospital without facing any consequences.
She knew he genuinely wanted to make amends now, yet she also knew this affection might fade after the initial joy of reconciliation, just like before.
Between them stood not only the Whites indirectly harmed by Vincent, but also the two children he had with Susan.
