Chapter 33
Vincent and Susan having a child remained an insurmountable hurdle.
No matter how hard he tried to forget, his descendant’s name was now etched in the family tree.
Vincent knew Rebecca felt deeply uncomfortable about the child. He carefully monitored her mood, deliberately avoiding the topic.
He harbored no affection for the child and saw no reason to invest effort into planning the Baby’s Hundred Days Cele- bration, delegating it entirely to his mother, Elizabeth.
On the day of the celebration, despite Vincent’s attempts to avoid it, Elizabeth personally sent someone to fetch him.
Before leaving, Vincent noticed Rebecca’s unusually detached expression, stirring a flicker of unease within him.
He approached her, took her hand, and spoke with palpable tension. “Tonight… wait for me to have dinner, alright?”
Seeing his anxious demeanor, Rebecca’s heart softened involuntarily. She sighed inwardly and replied, “Yes, I’ll wait for you.”
“Good.”
Instantly, a glimmer of light sparked in the man’s eyes. With a smile playing on his lips, he strode out of the villa.
Unaware that her own lips had unconsciously curved upward, Rebecca watched his retreating figure until he vanished from sight.
In the family chat group, pictures began trickling in.
Rebecca didn’t bother checking her phone deliberately. As the sun was setting, she instructed the housekeeper to pre- pare Vincent’s favorite dishes according to the time he’d mentioned before leaving.
Just one more month. After spending this time with Vincent, she could finally reunite with her parents and Elijah.
Russell’s family had gotten what they deserved. She could face them all with a clear conscience underground.
The sky had turned pitch black, long past the hour Vincent promised to return.
Plates of exquisite dishes cooled from steaming hot to stone cold in barely half an hour.
The villa entrance remained still. Under the warm indoor lighting, the dining table transformed from displaying appe- ⚫tizing dishes to bearing cold leftovers, killing any appetite or desire to wait further,
Rebecca felt sick to her stomach seeing the photo Susan had sent.
Noticing Rebecca’s pallor, the housekeeper timidly asked, “Madam, you haven’t eaten. The food’s gone cold. Should I

make you something fresh?”
Rebecca stood up, swaying unsteadily. The housekeeper rushed to support her, alarmed.
Steadying herself, Rebecca stared at the dishes with revulsion, murmuring softly, “Throw everything out.”
Holding onto the railing, she ascended the stairs step by step and retreated to her bedroom.
The warm room and soft bedding still left her feeling a bit cold.
Vincent, you broke your promise again.
I gave you a chance, waited three hours, but you used that time to hook up with Susan.
You always make promises you can’t keep. Why give me false hopes over and over?
Late at night, Spring Harmony Villa was quiet.
A figure slipped away silently from the villa.
When Vincent woke up, his mind was still groggy.
He opened his eyes, saw the scene on the bed, and froze in shock.
The red marks all over Susan’s body filled Vincent with panic. He checked his phone-noon already.
He’d broken his promise to return to Spring Harmony Villa for Rebecca last night. What would she think?
Vincent grabbed Susan by the throat, murder in his eyes, and snarled coldly, “You bitch! How dare you set me up!”
Susan’s face flushed crimson. She clawed at Vincent’s iron grip on her neck, but couldn’t budge it.
Seeing pure killing intent in his eyes, regret flooded her. Trembling, she stammered, “Vincent… I… love… you?”
Vincent released his grip, flinging the woman violently onto the floor with a scoff.
“What do you think you are? I spared you before for the child’s sake, yet you still refuse to behave. Fine, have it your way.”
He snatched the clothes scattered beneath the bed, swiftly dressed himself, then seized the completely naked Susan, dragging her out of the bedroom and straight downstairs.
Seeing his utter indifference-not even allowing her to dress before hauling her down-Susan struggled wildly, franti- cally screaming and begging for mercy.
Vincent acted as though he heard nothing. He merely frowned, finding it noisy, his expression remaining utterly un- moved.
Downstairs, Elizabeth rushed out at the sound of screams and sobs. Taking in the scene, she immediately felt a headache coming on.
Vincent’s face was contorted with rage. Deep strangulation marks marred Susan’s neck. No one dared speak.

The secretary hurried over. Pushing open the grand hall door, he was met with Susan’s tearful wails.
Stepping inside, he was confronted with her completely nude form and instinctively averted his gaze.
Catching sight of Vincent’s thunderous expression, a wave of panic washed over him. He stood silently to the side, not daring to utter a word.
Vincent stared at his phone-no messages, no missed calls-remaining silent for a long time.
After a prolonged pause, Vincent lifted his eyes to the secretary, his voice icy cold.
