From Neglected Wife to CEO’s Obsession novel Chapter 119

If Zoey were standing here instead of me, our boss’s squeaky-clean image would be completely ruined by now.

Seriously, what kind of grown man just strolls around the house in a bathrobe? I mean, come on.

While Elliot was off taking his second shower, I rushed to the guest bathroom, grabbed a towel, and kept running back and forth until I’d finally wiped up all the water on the floor.

Honestly, this whole mess was my fault. If I’d known things would turn out like this, there’s no way I’d have bothered watering those stupid plants.

About twenty minutes later, the doorbell rang. I nearly jumped out of my skin and called out to Elliot, panicking, “What should I do?”

What if it was his girlfriend or fiancée or something? Him in the shower, me just hanging around—there’s no way that would look innocent.

The bedroom door opened and Elliot came out, dressed in a dark suit, hair still damp and messy, looking all polished and untouchable. He glanced at the video intercom and pressed the button to unlock the door.

The big double doors swung open and a young guy wearing gold-rimmed glasses walked in, holding a small rectangular case.

“Well well, Elliot himself called me over. Where’s the injury? Let me see. Huh, that’s an interesting spot for a cut. You’ve got a story, I can tell.” He kept glancing between me and Elliot, a sly little smile playing on his lips.

He looked all refined, but his grin was pure trouble.

“It’s not what you think!” I blurted, desperate to explain but honestly not sure how to make it sound any better.

He turned to me, eyes lighting up with interest. “Oh? Then what is it? Go on, beautiful, tell me what happened. I need the details to figure out the right medicine.”

I was completely speechless.

Elliot shot him a cold look, face darkening. “I heard your family’s about to send someone to drag you home?”
