It’s not that I don’t get it, and I’m definitely not trying to be some kind of saint. But the way Remy and Julia are acting just keeps nagging at me, like there’s something going on beneath the surface that I’m not seeing.
Remy beat Julia up—bad. There was so much hate and bitterness in his eyes. But even after he nearly killed her, Julia still wouldn’t let me call the police.
The evidence she sent me, and all those messages… it all felt like she was trying to tell me something without actually saying it. If she just wanted me out of the picture as Mrs. Thompson, she could have set up a classic cheating scandal—easy. That kind of thing would have been nothing for her. So why send me all these videos and hints?
And Remy—he’s just not himself. Ever since I found out who Julia really is, he’s been changing, little by little, into someone I barely recognize.
What I thought was just a simple story of ex-lovers reconnecting and old feelings flaring up has turned into a full-blown mystery, all because of their weird behavior.
And I want answers.
“I don’t know. I just feel like there’s more to this than we realize,” I said.
“Who cares what’s hiding in the background?” Kailynn shot back. “Even if there are a hundred things we don’t know, the fact is, they cheated. That’s all you need to remember as the wife. No matter what their secret is, Remy and Julia couldn’t have slept together unless they both wanted to. What you need now is to get your freedom back, find yourself, and actually start living again. This isn’t some detective drama, and you’re not Sherlock Holmes. Go to sleep. Stop overthinking all this crap.”
She hung up, but her voice kept echoing in my ears.
She’s right. Cheating is cheating. No excuse will ever change that.
I couldn’t sleep. I turned off the lights and lay there, just staring up at the ceiling that glowed with tiny stars.
I’d been living here for over a week, but between the constant rain and all the chaos, this was the first quiet moment I’d had to just lie down and take in the view.
