From Neglected Wife to CEO’s Obsession novel Chapter 147

“Avery, you’re stuck in a landslide, aren’t you? Don’t be scared. I’m on my way right now. I’ll be there soon. Trust me, I’ve got you—I swear I’ll get you out of this.”

“Avery, please, say something. Just one word, anything, so I know you’re okay. Please, Avery, talk to me. I’m losing my mind over here.”

“Avery, I don’t care how much you hate me or can’t stand me. You have to stay alive. No matter what, promise me you’ll take care of yourself.”

I glanced at Elliot. He was still sitting there with his eyes closed, completely still, like he’d gone into some kind of meditative trance. It was as if he hadn’t heard a thing.

The temperature in the car had dropped. Maybe Blake had turned down the AC, or maybe it was just me, but a cold shiver ran down my neck.

Honestly, I was so done.

I’d just survived a life-or-death moment, and now I was staring down another disaster. My nerves were shot.

And Remy was just making everything worse.

Why couldn’t he just leave me alone?

He was driving me crazy.

“Remy, stop wasting your time. You chasing after me isn’t moving me at all—it only makes me dislike you even more. I don’t love you anymore. My life or death has nothing to do with you. Nothing you do is going to change that. Please, just stop bothering me. Thanks.”

I hung up, didn’t even hesitate, and tossed my phone onto the seat.

Blake was watching me in the rearview mirror, probably trying to figure out if I was really this serious about the divorce.

I rubbed my temples. I’d never felt this tired of a relationship before—not in six years, not ever.

“Mr. Garcia, how much longer until Remy gets the divorce papers?”

I couldn’t stand waiting any longer.

Every minute felt like forever. I was so frustrated I could scream.
