From Neglected Wife to CEO’s Obsession novel Chapter 2

Our bodies were pressed so close it felt like we might melt together. Our breaths tangled, hearts pounding hard and fast, as if trying to break free.

His kiss hit me hot and wild, like a sudden blaze, burning its way across my pajamas, leaving damp, heated trails behind. Each touch felt like a brand.

We were both breathing hard, the air thick with need. His eyes darkened, a flush deepening at his cheeks as he leaned in, his voice rough and whispering right at my ear.

“Avery, baby… I love you… I need you… you’re making me crazy…”

His fingers moved everywhere, as if they were magic, setting off sparks on my skin and making me feel like I might go up in flames.

I’d never slept with anyone else before. I had no idea how to resist him, not when my whole body was burning and my heart felt so empty, desperate to be filled by the thing I’d been waiting for forever.

I found myself fumbling with his shirt buttons, kissing and biting at his neck, his Adam’s apple, his warm skin—leaving little marks, claiming him as mine.

When my lips found his chest, Remy let out a low, shaky moan, like he just couldn’t take it anymore. His hands searched for the ties of my pajamas, fingers brushing my skin and leaving shivers behind.

My hands slid lower, pulling his shirt out from his waistband, hungry for more, my fingertips brushing the heat of his skin.

My heart was racing, my thoughts a jumbled mess. We were so close—tonight was supposed to be the night. I was sure of it.

But suddenly, everything stopped. Like someone had hit pause on a movie. Remy grabbed my hand, pulled it away with a grip that was firm and final. The desire in his eyes was just… gone, replaced by a quiet, endless silence.

He pulled away. Again.

How many times had this happened now? I’d lost track.
