From Neglected Wife to CEO’s Obsession novel Chapter 38

Just like I wanted, Remy’s face gave everything away—a mess of frustration, embarrassment, and something else he tried hard to hide.

In college, I was the debate team’s ace. I once made a grad student cry just by arguing circles around him. When it came to trading words, Remy didn’t stand a chance against me. Honestly, even if there were ten of him, they’d all lose.

The housekeeper had already prepped dinner, so there was no reason for Remy to act involved. He only said those things to get under my skin and remind me to stay in my lane.

I fired back, though, to make it clear I wasn’t the pushover he remembered. The days of him lying to me or pushing me around? They were over.

It felt good to settle things right away. No grudges, nothing left unsaid, no one owing anyone.

I ordered some takeout and went to my room to change. I had nowhere to be that afternoon, so I slipped into my favorite loungewear.

I was just buttoning up when Remy walked in and stood behind me. He didn’t say a word for three whole minutes.

If he was going to play stubborn, so would I. I could stand there all day.

Finally, his voice softened. “Babe, what do I have to do for you to let yesterday go?”

Like hell I’d just let it go.

I shot him a look. “Anything?”

“Anything,” he promised, nodding seriously. “Just say it, I’ll do whatever you ask.”

“Three things. First, your darling ex needs to leave. She’s not stepping foot in our house again. And neither you nor Cindy are allowed to talk to her, not even behind my back. Can you do that?”

Remy stared at me, swallowing hard. “Okay. What about the other two?”

“I haven’t decided yet. I’ll let you know when I do.”

Remy left the room. Soon, I could hear Julia in the living room, crying and cursing at me between sobs.

God knows what Remy told her, but in the end, Julia dragged her suitcase to his car and he drove her away.
