Chapter 243
Xandrov was not annoyed.

He said, “Naturally. Given my father’s condition at that time, it’s likely that no conventional first aid would have been effective. Only the Reedshaw acupuncture technique of ‘reviving the dead and restoring flesh to bone‘ could have done it.”
“It’s just a rumor. Do you believe it?” Kenneth furrowed her brows slightly, thinking Xandrov was exaggerating.
‘Don’t think I don’t know Xandrov’s intentions,‘ thought Kenneth. ‘Hasn’t the Longley family always wanted to develop traditional medicine at the National Hospital?
‘Unable to surpass Mr. Nelson in research, Mr. Longley tries to portray himself as the savior of national traditional medicine. Isn’t it just so he can continue to monopolize the position of director at National Hospital?
‘Xandrov is incorrigibly incompetent. Mr. Longley is already not up to much, but Xandrov thinks he can compete with Mr. Nelson. It is sheer fantasy.’
“Legends of this kind are never without foundation.” Xandrov remained courteous as always.
“I am aware that you have held prejudices against traditional medicine. Nevertheless, I must reiterate: the knowledge passed down by our ancestors over thousands of years is truly worthy of our in–depth study.”
Kenneth did not agree and wanted to refute again when the door to the inner chamber opened.
Upon seeing Josie emerge from inside, Kenneth’s already displeased expression
grew even more severe.
“Hello, Josie. We meet again.” Kenneth looked at her with a smile that did not reach his eyes.
He was determined to see how Josie, the brat, would handle their relationship. ‘Josie, the shameless little thing. She hasn’t even bothered to call me. Does she think they couldn’t do without her?‘ thought Kenneth.

Josie paused momentarily and said, “Kenneth Garfield? Are you here to see Mr. Longley? You may need to wait a little longer. Mr. Longley has just completed an acupuncture session and requires some rest.”
“Do you know each other?” Xandrov stood up and looked at Josie and Kenneth.
Kenneth smiled and said, “I know her. How could I not? Josie was exceptionally brave that day, and everyone present admired her.”
Kenneth’s remarks were undoubtedly a form of backhanded praise and carried a strange, mocking undertone. ‘Could it be that he is upset because I did not call him?‘ thought Josie.
Josie blinked and said, “It wasn’t just that day. Afterwards, Kenneth approached me privately and said he hoped I could work as Mr. Nelson’s assistant. But as a senior undergraduate, how could I have the nerve to approach Mr. Nelson? Kenneth has indeed overestimated me.”
Her expression seemed to say, “I’m nobody. Why don’t you big shots let me off?” which made Xandrov feel a playful sense of intrigue.
Josie couldn’t be bothered by their expressions. She walked over to fetch some water and said, “I’ve got things to do, so I won’t bother you all.”
Her statement was quite interesting. It was basically saying, ‘I’m busy treating patients and saving lives, so don’t go looking for trouble or making pointless conversation. I don’t have time to deal with you!‘
Xandrov’s shoulders trembled slightly. He nearly failed to suppress her laughter.
Kenneth, Xander’s assistant, had always been openly disdainful of others and could hardly be described as respectful toward Xandrov. If it were not for the fact that Xandrov’s father still held the position of director, Kenneth would be insufferably arrogant.
This time, he ran into a real firecracker. How did he even survive her fiery spirit?
“That girl…” Kenneth was so angry that he pointed at the closed inner door, almost cursing aloud.
With a single glance, Xander stopped him and said, ‘Why contend with a child?

Aren’t you ashamed?‘
Then, he once again looked at Xandrov with an apologetic expression.
Xander said, “Xandrov, don’t get the wrong idea. We were downstairs when Mr. Longley had an accident. By the time we got upstairs, that girl had saved him.
“I admire that girl, which is why I thought of taking her as my student. I didn’t expect that she seemed to have some misunderstanding.”
Xandrov still wore a gentle expression, but the words he spoke had lost their earlier politeness.
“I don’t see any misunderstanding. She refused you. If I were in her position, I would have done the same. The difference in professional fields makes it meaningless to go.”
“The statement is somewhat biased!” said Xander, waving his hand.
