The health check results for the three dogs were out.
They were in excellent shape and enjoying every meal.

With appetites, they even finished an entire bowl of puppy food meant for a little Pomeranian at the pet hospital before leaving.
The staff looked troubled. “Mr. Reed, about this dog food, do you need to pay for it?”
At that moment, Ryan received a call. He frowned, glanced at his phone, and then pointed to Freya. “I need to take the call. Talk to the kids‘ mom.”
At this moment, Freya was squatting on the ground, watching a dog inside the cage.
This dog looked even smaller than Sherri, but it seemed to be ill, lying listlessly and sleeping in the cage.
She felt a little sorry for it and gently touched its little paw that stretched out of the cage.
“Miss, could you come over and settle the bill?” said the staff.
Freya looked around, confirming that the staff was speaking to her.
She said, “We should have already paid our fees.”
The staff smiled and said, “You did pay the checkup fee, but just now the three dogs ate a bowl of puppy food. I’ll need you to settle that as well.”
Freya instinctively looked for Ryan.
But he was nowhere to be seen.
She asked, “Um…where’s the person who just came in with me?”
“Oh, you mean the father of the three dogs? He got an emergency call and went out. He asked us to find you to settle the bill.”
Freya rolled her eyes. “I… never mind. How much is it?”
The staff replied, “One thousand three hundred.”
Freya said, “Then you might as well wait for him to come back and settle it.”
When Ryan returned holding his phone, he glanced at Freya.
The staff hurried over to greet him, “Mr. Reed, the child’s mother said she wants to wait
Ryan smiled slightly. “Wait for me for what?”
you to come back.”
“To pay,” Freya looked utterly confused. “What kind of dog food costs 1,300 dollars a bowl? Even a regular meal for a person isn’t this expensive.”
The staff explained, “This is imported food. It includes beef, seafood, fish oil, and goat milk powder. The quality is excellent, and it’s especially good for dogs‘ health and fur…”

Ryan paid quickly and without hesitation. Freya followed behind him, leading several dogs out the door.

After settling the dogs and getting back in the car, Freya fastened her seatbelt and muttered, “That so–called imported dog food is all just hype. I could buy the ingredients myself and cook for the dogs; it wouldn’t cost nearly this much.”
Ryan asked, “You know how to cook for dogs too?”
Freya said, “Yeah. Dolly has a sensitive stomach, so I’ve had to make food for him quite often.”
Ryan tapped his slender fingers on the steering wheel, thought for a moment, and said, “The doctor examined our chubby sons today. There’s nothing serious for now, but they’re a bit overweight and at risk of high cholesterol. If we cook for them ourselves, would that be better?”
Freya nodded. “Definitely. Kibble is so dry–it’s not as tasty as freshly made food, and we can control their portions.”
“Let’s do this, then,” Ryan said. “You’re sharing a room with Lily right now, right?”
“Yeah, why?”
