Dragon Castle Medic Tent

Dusk

🙂))

The sky was still weeping thunder when we landed. Rain mixed with ash as the dragons touched down one by one, their wings folding like battle worn flags. The strike team moved fast, Bram already barking orders to set up a massive medic tent near the eastern gardens. The dragons helped, hauling supplies, shielding the area with enchanted stones, keeping their massive forms nearby like living guardians.

Sixty two children. Sixty two. These sick bastards. All of them alive. Barely. Some were covered in bruises and bite marks, others burned, starved, or shaking so hard they couldn’t hold the water flasks we offered. My wolf, Lyssira, whimpered inside me the moment we stepped

into the tent. And II felt like I couldn’t breathe.

Healers are stable on twenty three of them,Bram said softly, handing me a wrapped bundle of bandages. The others are hanging on, butfuck, Elowen.

I nodded, swallowing down the scream rising in my chest. I know.

I moved from cot to cot, kneeling beside children with broken arms, twisted legs, and blood crusted cheeks. I whispered to each one, brushing hair from dirty faces, wrapping trembling fingers in my own.

You’re safe now,I said over and over. You’re safe. You’re home.

Lachlan used his magic to infuse the healing salves, murmuring spells in Gaelic that made the air around us shimmer like light through crystal. Vaelrix brought the dragon tears, and when they touched the lips of the dying, breath returned. Color bloomed. Wounds stitched closed with light instead of thread.

And then there washim. The boy. He looked about fifteen, but his skin was wrongpale like a moonstone, veined with gold and green, almost translucent. His eyes were slitted, like a reptile’s, but flickered with silver fire when he blinked. He didn’t speak. Didn’t cry. Didn’t even react when one of the medics touched him.

I crouched beside him and whispered, Heyyou’re safe now. Can you tell me your name?

Nothing. He just stared past me like I wasn’t even there. Lyssira growled in my mind, They did something to him. I can feel it. That’s not a normal hybrid, El. That’s not even natural.

We all felt it. Even the dragons. A low rumble echoed across the stone path as one of the unmated, unshifted dragons, Marnok, an elder of the Stormscale brood, approached the tent. His head was massive, his eyes burning cobalt.

He is part of me,Marnok said directly into my mind, his voice old and ancient as mountains. Broken. Altered. But mine. His massive head tilted as he regarded the boy.

I blinked back tears. Can you speak with him?

Yes. He does not know what he is. But he is not lost yet. I will stay with him.

We exchanged a long look. Or maybe a soul to soul moment, because that dragon saw every ache inside me and didn’t flinch. A healer stepped forward. We think they were trying tocreate a dragon shifter.

I felt the world shift beneath my feet. I didn’t have time to process it before one of the older girls, maybe sixteen, with long red hair and a stitchedup side, sat up from her cot and waved me over.

Her voice was rough, but clear. There’s another place, she rasped. Not for kids. For themoms. The women they kept. Some are pregnant. Some already had babies. They keep them there. Like breeding stock.

The entire tent went dead quiet. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t even blink. The girl looked down at her hands. They said if we screamed too loud, we’d end up there next.

Lyssira didn’t just whimper. She howled. I stood slowly. Bram was frozen. Daxon had his fists clenched. Lachlan stopped mid spell, his eyes flaring blue. Vaelrix was already turning toward the war tent. I looked at that red haired girl and whispered, Thank you. We’ll get

them. I swear it.

My voice shook. I clenched my fists and wiped furiously at the tears pouring down my face. This evil must be purged from the realms. I would not rest until it was done.

Lyssira growled in my mind, We will eradicate the Vampire vermin from existence.
