Chapter 22
Kinsley
I had never been so fast in my life, moving around at the speed of wind. I wasn’t sure how I was doing it either.
But somehow, I took a deep breath after realizing how the enquiry was going to end in an epic disaster and still forced myself to function.
This office had been my second home, a place where I found comfort far away from my real home, a secure place where I gave myself a new dream in life.
But it was now all going to turn into dust.
And I wasn’t sure how I was supposed to feel.
Mrs Briggs hadn’t liked the way I wagered a bargain that didn’t earn her anything.
The Senior Associates hated me for my gall and the rest of the staff were either too terrified of our new boss or too angry at being asked to clear their desk of personal belongings to give me any attention.
There was nobody I could turn to for help.
Thomas saw me walk out of our office head’s boss with a distressed face and he immediately rushed forward.
“Hey, why did you get called inside?”
I was too tired to give him an explanation, so only mumbled.
“I’ve been assigned to face the departmental enquiry.”
“What?” a shocked exclaim left his mouth.
“But you are a junior associate. How can you handle that? Mrs Briggs should. Or one of the senior associates.”
I only rubbed the back of my neck and finally headed to the pantry to make myself a coffee.
“Its done. Nothing I can change about it.”
“No, but this is suicide,” Thomas argued and began trying to force me to talk to Mrs Briggs again.
But I was not in a mood.
“Today might as well be my last day at the office, Thomas. Want to have coffee with me?”
asked him, but somebody else answered from behind me.
“Aww, look at these two lovebirds. Sharing their last coffee together before the nosy bitch gets thrown out of the office.”
I didn’t have to turn around to see who it was.
I only grabbed a coffee and punched the buttons of the machine, imagining it to be Grrace, Mrs Briggs, and even that last playdate guy back from my childhood.
Miranda and a few others giggled and cracked jokes as I took my coffee and decided to step out to give myself some time to think.
But the gang of Gracie cornered me.
“Look at this little, helpless chicken. She was trying to act too smart and malign our images, but now, we will be here to watch as she digs her own grave.”

Chapter 22
I forced myself to not lash out at her. Because that was what she wanted.
So I held my chin up and gave her a smile.
“The items on your desk need to go. And you already said you wont do it so I have no time to waste.”
Thus, sipping my coffee, I walked towards her desk and simply began plucking away all the personal items from the table.
“Hey, don’t you dare touch my pictures!” She came rushing after me as I began pulling them away from the board and rummaging through her drawers.
“Wow, this looks like a mini make up shop.” I said and saw there were a dozen or so lipsticks, a few concealers, hair gels, and a myriad of other items didn’t bother checking through.
I only pulled out a trash bin plastic bag and began throwing it all inside the bag.
She tried to stop me, but I said. “Tell your therapist how I gave you anxiety. It might get you a few more days off work.”
My all too sweet smile made her blood boil, but she couldn’t do anything except threaten and trying to take the objects back from me.
“See that” I said, pointing to the security camera pointing in our direction.
“If you want to give the entire office more proof, be my guest.”
She looked at the camera and muttered. “Who the hell even repaired it? It hasn’t been working for months.”
I chuckled. “Do you think only you can bribe? A quick call to the technician and he was also asking me if I was going to give him a blowjob for making it happen.”
That was a bluff.
But the way her face blanched told me my bluff wasn’t too far off from the truth.
“I…….” she stammered, and I ignored her before proceeding to move to the next tables. Everybody ran for their lives and began clearing their desks
before I marched in like a bull and threw their stuff in a bin.
Somehow, it made me feel a tiny bit at ease.
“You…you are vile”
Rhonda was in tears as I asked her to clear her desk of all the small plush toys.
I gave her a wary smile.
“I am giving you time to take it home instead of throwing in the bin”
At that, she burst into another bout of fresh tears as Miranda tried to bait me.
“And what about your desk? Dont you have any personal items?”
She asked, and Gracie suddenly stormed to my desk to look through everything she could find about me.
But she was in for a shock because my desk was as dull as my boring life.
“There is absolutely nothing on her desk and in her drawers except work files and papers.”
She said after a harrowing search through my stuff.
“Yeah. There isn’t,” I said and continued to inspect desks while some employees hurriedly ran to the clothing store down the block to buy black and white clothes.
