Chapter 31
Valencia
Sunday morning saw me sleeping around like a hibernating frog. I lay in the bed, tucked in the sheets even when the sun’s first rays touched the sky and rolled over to put a pillow on my face when it was now staring at me through the windows.
Waking up would mean facing the loneliness.
I had spent my Saturday with Sophia, and it had been a nightmare. Of course, due to no fault of hers.
Still, I didn’t want to spend my Sunday hearing her grumble about my questionable life choices. I had had enough of her to last me a few months.
So I lay in the bed but I was an early bird, so sleeping in the bed after 9 am almost felt criminal to me.
Grumbling to myself, I slowly brushed my teeth and then thought of watching something. There must be some movie or series to watch and eat popčam.
I hoped.
So I made some and plopped on the couch to turn the TV on and that is when my phone rang. Out of habit, I rushed to check who it was and to my dismay, it was Sophia.
“Done with breakfast yet?” She asked.
I stifled a yawn.
“I am going to survive on popcorn today.”
“There is no need for that.”
“Why not?”
“Did you really forget about your deal?”
I scratched the back of my head, trying to recall what deal had I made with her.
“11”
“Argh. Fine. You forgot it but its cool because I didn’t. Now get your ass up from the couch, throw that popcorn away because you are going to get showered and dressed in a nice dress and then reach the address I give you.”
“No Sophia, I am sitting here and binge watching movies all day”
She adopted her no nonsense stern voice.
“If you dare disobey me, then I will come there and shove you into the dress I want and you will have to wear it all day.”
Fuck.
That was not an option.
I loved my pajamas and work clothes, but Sophia was the opposite of me. She loved dressing bold and risky.
No wonder she was jumping from one date to another because there was no shortage of boys and men trying to chase her.
But she never really settled on anyone in particular. Her longest fling had barely stayed for a few months.
Sometimes I wondered if she knew what she wanted to begin with.

Chapter 31
Her priorities always changed like the weather, sometimes she wanted a golden retriever boy, other times she wanted a dark and enigma dra
“Where am I going?” I asked, and she mumbled.
“Someplace that will hopefully make you stare less at that scammer image you got of your callboy.”
“Hey, that picture is real,” I argued.
How did I know? Because I had seen those abs, felt those muscles under my skin. I knew how those fingers felt inside me,
But Sophia had slowly begun to think of him as my imaginary friend, one only I had seen.
“Yeah, I also know you have been staring at it and even licking it instead of sleeping or worrying about work.”
“That is so not true”
I was missing him, yes, but no I didn’t do any creepy stuff like his picture.
“Delete that photo, burn that memory, and show up like the good girl you are. I am giving you a generous two hours to prepare and get ready.”
I stuffed a popcorn in my mouth.
“I can’t dress without knowing the occasion.”
“Uh huh, don’t act smart with me. I know you very well. Just wear a nice dress, not your boring work clothes, but something a bit revealing, something sexy, you know.”
I wanted to just ignore her, but she had done so much for me yesterday and listened to my ramblings, also accompanied me to find lan.
I owed it to her.
“You better not ask me to meet some random stranger again.”
I warned her, and she shook her head. “Unlike you, I learn from my mistakes.”
“I am texting you the address. Be there”
I groaned and stuffed my mouth with popcorn before doing as she asked. Getting ready for office was easy, but to dress sexily? That was new to me.
I didn’t even own a lot of ravishing dresses or high heels.
Yet, I looked through the available options and chose an off shoulder navy blue dress that reached my knees and paired it with flat white pumps.
I left my hair open, dabbed some mascara and lip gloss and voila, I was done.
The phone buzzed, and I saw the address. It was some restaurant in the city.
The photos looked nice when I looked it up online.
I got in the car and turned the ignition on and that is when she called me again.
“Where are you?”
“On my way”
I reached the restaurant and got another text from her, instructing me to go to table number 4.
The receptionist politely guided me to the table and to my utter surprise, I saw the table was set apart from the rest, in a dome like structure.
Chapter 31
The glass dome was decorated with flowers and vines, and inside was a table and circular seating.
On one side of the table was a familiar face who grinned from ear to ear upon seeing me.
“Thomas?” I muttered as he got up and looked me up from head to toe.
1 suddenly felt conscious of my looks as he pulled out a bouquet of flowers from under the table and approached me.
“You look beautiful,” He said and leaned forward to hug me.
I hugged him back awkwardly as he handed me the bouquet.
It was made of red roses.
“Thanks” I replied.
We got seated in that dome as he complimented me.
“You look really stunning today. I mean, you always do. But today you look extra gorgeous. I mean, you are gorgeous.”
I laughed nervously and muttered, “Thanks, I guess?”
