Chapter 102
That answer said it all. George had heard everything.
Rhea was still weak, so her voice was barely above a whisper as she said, “I’m sorry. I was just…”
George let out a quiet chuckle and said, “I understand.”
It felt awkward to talk about this topic, so Rhea said, “If you’ve got work, go ahead and take care of it. I’ve got people looking after me here.”
He did have work, but he thought that leaving again made no sense since he was already there.
Soon, Nathan returned with several bodyguards in tow. They carried bags filled with supplements.
“We’ve still got things to deal with. I’ll leave two guys here in case you need anything.” Nathan waved over two of his men and had them stay.
“There’s no need. The center’s staff is enough,” Rhea said.
“Don’t be stubborn. If you don’t take care of your body now, you’ll regret it later.” Nathan shot her a
glare.
Rhea smiled. “Thanks, Nathan.”
“We’ll be leaving, then.”
George stood. Just before stepping out, he turned to her and reminded, “Take your meds on time.”
Rhea nodded. “I will.”
After the two men left the room, a staff member approached Nathan and said, “Mr. Ravelle, as per your instructions, the placenta has been preserved and stored.”
Nathan’s gaze turned cold. “Get me a pen and paper.”
A moment later, he handed the paper to one of his bodyguards, Logan Wooten. “Deliver it to this address.”
Logan took the note and the box. “Yes, sir.”
At a restaurant, Lauren’s mood was clearly off. She asked, “Why aren’t you guys eating anything?”
The two kids seemed quite particular about their food.

Arielle pointed at the plate and said, “If we eat these, they’ll upset our stomachs and might give us a fever, so we can’t have them.”
The dishes were either too sweet or too spicy, so the kids couldn’t eat any of them.
Lauren brushed it off and nudged the plate closer. “It’s fine. A few bites won’t hurt. Come on. Eat up.”
Her eyes kept darting to her phone.
Why hadn’t Carter called? Could he really not let Rhea go and wanted to make things right with her again?
“Ms. Thayer, don’t overthink it,” Scarlett comforted her. “Mr. Jamison clearly cares more about you. Just look at how he raised these kids all on his own.”
Alisha, sitting off to the side, didn’t look too pleased. “He didn’t raise them alone. Mrs. Jamison treated them like her own. She worked hard and gave up everything for them.”
Scarlett frowned. “Well, that’s her duty, isn’t it? Since she chose to be a stepmother, she should fulfill her responsibilities. No matter what, she shouldn’t think she can compete with their biological mother. That’s just delusional.”
Alisha was annoyed but didn’t bother to argue.
Lauren turned to her. “Carter’s the one who pays your salary, right?”
Alisha lowered her gaze and said, “Yes.”
“Then, as a household staff, shouldn’t you be siding with your employer? Why are you taking someone else’s side? In life, it’s important to know who to stand with.” Lauren’s words carried a pointed undertone.
Alisha swallowed her frustration and said nothing more.
“Let’s go. We’re done here.” Lauren stood, clearly fed up.
“But the kids haven’t eaten enough,” Alisha said.
Lauren replied without thinking, “It’s not like they’ll starve. They can eat again at home.”
