After hanging up the call, Rhea looked toward George, who was lounging on the couch and working on his laptop.

She hadn’t expected George to be dragged into this mess between her and Carter.

“George, you should get back to work,” Rhea said gently.

He lifted his gaze slightly and asked, “What?”

“I’m planning to stay at my place for a few days. Otherwise, Carter will continue to come back. Once I’ve recovered, I’ll buy you dinner.”

She was truly grateful to George that day.

George closed the laptop with a click. He asked, “Did someone say something to you?”

He had caught on quick.

Rhea pressed her lips together. “I just don’t want you getting tangled up in all this. I’d hate for Carter to start giving you trouble.”

George crossed one leg over the other and draped his arm lazily over the side of the couch. He remarked, “You worry too much.”

“What is there to fear?” he asked, a flash of contempt in his eyes. He stood up and called someone in

to help pack her things.

Rhea blinked, “Did Nathan ask you to stay and keep an eye on me?”

George didn’t answer. Instead, he asked, “What’s the address to your place? I’ll take you there,‘

An hour later, Rhea was finally back in her own villa.

“Haven’t you hired any maids?” George asked.

“I was just about to hire two,” Rhea said, opening a housekeeping agency website on her phone.

But George was already on a call. “Send over three top–tier maids.”

He cut her off. “What do you want to eat?”

Rhea pressed her lips together, fidgeting with her phone. “Maybe… pasta?”

Without saying another word, George headed into the kitchen.

There was still some meat left in the fridge. They were leftovers from when Kate and the others had stayed over a few days ago. But the vegetables were gone entirely.

By the time Rhea came back from the bathroom, the fridge was already being restocked by one of George’s men.

Fresh meat, fruits, and vegetables filled the space.

“Do you want chicken soup or tomato soup?” George asked as he wrapped up a call in the living room.

Rhea hurriedly waved him off. “I can cook for myself.”

It was starting to feel like she was troubling him way too much.

George didn’t say a single word. He simply headed to the kitchen and got to work. If she didn’t decide, then he would just make whatever he wanted.

Rhea noticed that George’s back was broad.

“Yeah.”

“And how exactly are you going to thank me?” His tone carried a teasing edge.

Rhea fell silent. Indeed, she wondered how she could do that.

George already had everything. He was even wealthier than she was.

Then George said slowly, “If you really want to thank me, stop acting so pathetic. Start behaving like

a Ravelle again. If your family saw how soft you’ve become, they’d be coughing up blood.”

The Ravelles had always been ruthless.

Take Nathan, for example. He had ordered Logan to slam a placenta into Lauren’s face and told her to raise it. If she failed to do so, she would have to pay the price.
