When the call ended, Liora had just finished her dinner.

Her husband, Zayne Marsh, asked, “What’s with that look?”

“George wants me to deal with a woman,” Liora said, wiping her hands with a towel as she left the

table.

“There’s actually a woman who could piss him off?”

Such women basically didn’t exist.

First of all, George never interacted with women outside of work. Second, he would have to care about that person for him to be angered.

What kind of woman could catch George’s eye, let alone matter enough to get under his skin?

“You have no idea.” Liora lowered her gaze.

Once, she had discovered George’s secret by accident. To this day, she hadn’t dared to utter a single

word about it.

Liora signaled to Zayne. “Look into a woman named Lauren Thayer. She’ll be at Mrs. Donovan Senior’s birthday banquet, too.”

“Alright.”

Lauren checked into the 19th floor of Calmont Hotel without a hitch, but there wasn’t a hint of a

smile on her face.

Carter hadn’t told her exactly why she was allowed into the hotel, but when they passed through the lobby, she overheard whispers from the other guests.

They said that Rhea had given her the invitation out of charity.

“Carter, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have come with you. Now I’ve dragged you into this humiliation too.” Lauren’s eyes brimmed with guilt.

Carter was irritated, but seeing her so upset, he felt only sympathy for her. “It’s not your fault. If I’d known Rhea would be here, I would’ve reached out to the Donovan family and gotten one more spot.

He concluded that it was Rhea who had humiliated him.

For the first time, Carter felt a flicker of disgust toward her.

Before, he had thought that she had simply kept her willful temper in check for years and that she .was just impulsive and inconsiderate.

Now, he saw she was rotten to the core. And with power on her side, she showed no mercy.

“Forget about her. Rest up so you’re ready for the banquet tomorrow,” Carter said.

Lauren smiled softly. “Alright. Will you have dinner with me?”

Her gentle smile eased his mood as well. “If I don’t, who will?”

“The kids will be here tomorrow morning, right?” Lauren asked.

“Yeah. Tomorrow’s Saturday.”

Before coming, they had planned that since they were already in Draventh, they might as well have the kids join them so the four of them could spend a few days here together.

Lauren said, “I’ve already booked a few places, all of them famous spots in Draventh. They’re right along Primero Avenue.”

Amusement parks, private family clubs, children’s play centers, and countless other attractions lined Draventh’s most bustling and extravagant street.

The left side of Primero Avenue was filled with attractions and sightseeing spots.

The right side, on the other hand, was a world of bright lights, lavish indulgence, and endless revelry.

Anything in the world worth enjoying could be found on that street.

Calmont Hotel stood at the far end of Primero Avenue’s right side.

The next morning at 9:00 am, guests began streaming into the Donovan residence from all directions.

Guests had come from all over, with some traveling from abroad.

The moment Carter and Lauren stepped out of their car, they saw Rhea making her entrance, surrounded by several elegantly dressed women.

After handing over their invitation, Carter and Lauren walked in together.
