The guests couldn’t believe that Lauren actually had the nerve to pull such a cheap trick at an event

in Draventh.

Lauren couldn’t bear another moment there and strode out of the hotel.

Behind her, Carter wanted to give chase but couldn’t. Considering his ties with the Donovan family, he couldn’t just walk away.

Suddenly, an invitation landed right at his feet. He frowned down at it.

Rhea only glanced at him out of the corner of her eye. Smiling, she said, “You can use it. Make sure you tell Lauren that this is my charitable act for her.”

Without giving him another look, she turned and headed for the elevators.

Nathan gave Carter a long, meaningful glance before walking off as well.

Humiliation. That invitation tossed at his feet was pure humiliation. But if Carter left Lauren on her own in Draventh, she would feel so wronged.

A staff member bent down to pick up the invitation. “Sir?”

Carter took it, his expression cold, then went after Lauren.

On the top floor of the hotel, the elevator doors slid open. Rhea’s striking face was devoid of any extra expression.

Every staff member on the top floor was expected to memorize each guest’s identity.

The moment they saw her, they bowed in turn.

“Good evening, Ms. Ravelle.”

“Good evening, Ms. Ravelle,”

“Watch your step, Ms. Ravelle.”

She kept her eyes forward, her back straight, and her presence sharp. “Thank you.”

“Rhea.” Nathan caught up.

“Good evening, Mr. Nathan,” one of the staff members greeted.

“Yes?” Rhea replied.

A staff member had already opened the suite door. Rhea and Nathan walked in together, and the door closed behind them.

“Have you been living like this these past few years?” Nathan asked, thinking that the Jamison guy clearly didn’t respect Rhea at all. The latter actually openly defended another woman.

Rhea shook her head. “Just the past few months. Lauren supposedly got cancer and had to leave back then. Now she’s recovered and came back because she missed the kids.”

And once she returned, she never left.

Nathan let out a dry laugh. “You actually believe that?”

Rhea’s eyes gleamed cold. “Carter does.”

His expression darkened, almost turning vicious. “Don’t worry. I’m not letting you suffer this for nothing. She wants to attend this birthday banquet, right?”
