Rhea didn’t feel hurt, but it did stir old memories within her.

All the years she had been married to Carter, he had never once given her jewelry of his own accord.

The only thing remotely extravagant was the first dress he bought her, and even that had cost only a

few hundred thousand dollars.

It was the least he could do?

Rhea let out a chuckle and lifted her bid paddle. “Ten million dollars.”

Carter froze, staring hard at her back.

Her long, wavy hair fell in a smooth, glossy cascade. Even from behind, she carried a poise and elegance he had rarely noticed in her before.

He couldn’t believe that she dared to bid ten million dollars. Meeting a rich man had clearly

emboldened her.

Carter raised his bid paddle again. “15 million dollars!”

Before stepping on stage, the auctioneer had been told that Rhea was the new boss.

He cast a deliberate glance at Rhea. “15 million dollars. Any higher bids?”

Carter smirked. He didn’t believe for a second that George would throw away tens of millions of

dollars just to indulge Rhea.

But then Rhea lifted her bid paddle again. “20 million dollars.”

Carter inhaled sharply.

What unsettled him wasn’t the number, but the fact that Rhea seemed determined to stand against him at every turn.

Rhea herself hadn’t planned on flaunting her family’s wealth. But sometimes, privilege was a kind of luck she couldn’t deny.

When she returned to Draventh and made it clear that she was divorcing Carter, Ruby had given her a bank card as a reward for finally breaking free.

It had no spending limit.

Rhea knew that Ruby’s personal card carried at least 200 million dollars. After all, Ruby was a true heiress–the only daughter of wealthy parents–so all the family wealth belonged to her.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated.

Rhea covered her mouth as she answered the call. Her body instinctively leaned toward George.

George didn’t move away. Instead, he leaned closer, using his body to suppress her voice so it wouldn’t disturb the auction.

“Mom?”

Ruby said, “I heard that you’re at an auction. Did you see something you like?”

“Yeah, just a necklace.‘

“Do you have enough money?” Ruby asked. “I can contact the seller directly and wire the funds.”

“No need for that. What you gave me is more than enough.” Rhea lowered her gaze.

“Alright. Just tell me if you need more.”

Rhea replied, “Thanks, Mom.”

When she hung up, Carter’s voice rang out again. “30 million dollars.”

After putting her phone away, Rhea was about to raise her bid paddle again when, out of the corner of her eye, she caught the man beside her lifting his hand.

“100 million dollars.”

George’s voice was neither loud nor soft and carried no hint of arrogance. He spoke as if it were just a

casual call.

Carter’s brows instantly drew together.

He couldn’t believe that George was really willing to spend 100 million dollars just to get Rhea a

necklace.

Lauren was equally stunned, though mostly with resentment. She didn’t think that Rhea was particularly exceptional. To her, Rhea was nothing more than a pretty face with dumb luck.

But none of that was enough to match a man of George’s stature.
