Chapter 176
Rhea’s grandmother, Lara Bowen, replied, “Rhea’s back, so we came to see her. Must we tell you?”
Liam was rendered speechless.
After breakfast, Charlie and Lara sat with Rhea in the living room for a chat, while Ruby and the maids prepared lunch.
Steven and Cynthia, knowing that Charlie and Lara had returned, planned to come over around noon.
“Rhea, I’ve heard a bit about what happened,” Charlie said, lowering his head like a conspirator. “Do you want me to send someone to kill him?”
Rhea was shocked. “Grandpa, that’s unnecessary!”
Charlie had spent his life in the military and couldn’t imitate a scholar’s ways. He preferred to cut through problems with swift, decisive action.
“That bastard is cold–hearted and ungrateful. He’d turn traitor on the battlefield in a second!” Charlie gritted his teeth.
Charlie had always doted on the women in his family. Rhea had an aunt, but she died young. If not for that, Charlie and Lara wouldn’t have had their sons.
Liam was born when they were nearly 40, followed by two more sons six years later.
Fortunately, their sons turned out well, but they never had more daughters.
With only Rhea as their granddaughter, she was spoiled down to her very bones.
“Look, I bought these for you over the years.” Lara opened a wooden box.
Rhea saw the jewelry and immediately recognized the value. “Grandma, you should wear them yourself.”
“I’m too old for these. You had a rough first marriage, but it’s fine. Happiness is ahead, Rhea. You deserve nothing but the best,” Lara said, smiling as she held her hand.
By noon, a maid brought Rhea her phone. “Ms. Ravelle, you’ve had repeated calls.”
Rhea looked at the screen and quickly hung up.
“Who is it?” Charlie was as sharp as ever. “Is it that bastard?”
Rhea pressed her lips together. “Yeah.”

Chapter 176
It was indeed Carter, and he had called more than ten times.
“Aren’t you divorcing him? Why is he calling?”

Rhea didn’t want to answer, but with Carter constantly calling, she had no choice. She went to her room and picked up the phone before asking coldly, “What is it?”
“Lauren’s had a car accident. She’s in the hospital,” Carter replied hoarsely.
Rhea scoffed. “You’re not expecting me to go take care of her, are you?”
Carter wasn’t that unreasonable. “You know the kids‘ school has a parent–teacher meeting. Both parents need to be there. I can’t make it back in time. Can you go?”
“No.” Rhea felt sorry for the kids, but she wouldn’t agree if the request came from Carter.
“Rhea, the kids have called you ‘Mom‘ for over six years. It’s just a parent–teacher meeting,” Carter
argued.
“I don’t understand how you have the nerve to say that to me. All the good things go to Lauren, while all the hard work gets dumped on me? And if I refuse, it means I’m not good enough?”
Rhea continued firmly, “Carter, 20 days will pass quickly. Until then, I want no contact.‘
After saying that, she hung up and blocked his number.
