Chapter 183
Rhea tilted her head to the side and repeated, “A favor?”
Carter didn’t look the least bit embarrassed. “Do you know a professor named David Ravelle? I heard that he’s also part of your family. I was hoping you could help me contact him and ask him to perform surgery on Lauren.
“After she recovers, I’ll cut things off with her for good. I promise you, this time I’ll really do it.”
Upon hearing that, Rhea froze. She was too stunned to react. She couldn’t imagine how Carter had the nerve to say that.
He wanted her to contact her uncle to perform surgery on Lauren?
It was so absurd that she actually laughed.
Rhea let out a silent laugh for a long while. “Carter, I really underestimated your shamelessness.‘

“Rhea, you refused to resolve our problems calmly back then, and that only made me misunderstand you. But now I’m willing to-” Carter started to circle the table toward her.
Just then, Rhea grabbed the bottle and splashed the wine all over his face and clothes, cutting off his disgusting words.
She then slammed the bottle back onto the table.
Her eyes were cold. “You may be willing, but I’m not! I don’t need your apology, your regret, or your so–called love. I was stupid enough to take you once. Do you think I’d ever pick up the same trash twice? Carter, I don’t love you anymore.”
This was the nightmare she had always feared.
What she had worried most about back then was that once Carter was blinded by greed, he would cling to her for her status and keep dragging things out.
She knew Carter too well. To achieve his goals, he wouldn’t mind even kneeling to someone because he only cared about success.
Wine dripped down Carter’s face, blurring his vision.
He couldn’t believe that she didn’t love him anymore. How could her love vanish so fast?
His throat tightened, and his chest went hollow with pain. “Did you fall for George?”
He knew all too well how new love would push out the old.
Rhea smiled. “Yes.”

Carter clenched his fists. “I don’t believe you.”
“It doesn’t matter,” Rhea said flatly. She truly didn’t care anymore.

He spent the whole night thinking. He realized that he hadn’t just misjudged Rhea, but had even wrongly believed she had cheated.
She was a Ravelle heiress, and George was Nathan’s close friend. It was natural that they knew each
other.
Carter exposed her lie. “Rhea, I know you and George are acquainted. But isn’t it exhausting to keep
up
the act even now?”
In his head, he still believed that she was just using George to spite him and get back at him over
Lauren.
Rhea couldn’t stand the self–righteous look on his face for another second. She pulled out her phone and dialed George’s number, putting the call on speaker.
His familiar, lazy voice filled the room. “Yes, Rhea?”
At a private club, Nathan and George had just finished discussing business and were lingering over
dinner.
When Rhea’s call came through, Nathan was puzzled. He wondered why Rhea would call George and
not him.
