The HR manager must have given the staff a heads–up because as soon as she gave her name at the front desk, someone led her to a reception room.

She assumed that she would be waiting alone. But sitting there, flipping through a product brochure and smoking casually, was George.

Their eyes met. He raised a brow and tapped some ash off his cigarette.

They had just seen each other that morning, but Rhea looked different now. Unlike her younger self, there was a quiet sharpness about her now and a fierce clarity in her eyes.

Rhea blinked in surprise. “You…”

The CEO of Scott Group, Louie Scott, was in the room, so she didn’t say George’s name aloud.

“Ms. Ravelle?” Louie stood. “Could you give us just a moment? We—”

“No need for that.” George closed the brochure. “You two go ahead and talk.”

Louie glanced between them. Before he could respond, George added, “She’s like my sister. You can talk to her first.”

Sister? George, the distinguished heir of Draventh, just called her his sister?

Inwardly, Louie was screaming, but on the outside, his expression remained neutral. “Ah, I see! My apologies for not coming down to greet you, Ms. Ravelle. Please, have a seat!”

Rhea sat, calm and poised.

After some thought, Louie finally asked, “Ms. Ravelle, are you sure you want to work for Scott Group? No offense, but Mr. Jamison’s company isn’t exactly small. If you’re looking for a position…”

The Jamison and Scott families had been at odds for years. Ever since Carter clawed his way back into power, Louie had been pushed to the edge.

So when George considered working with him, Louie willingly gave up a significant share of the profits, all because he wanted to crush Carter.

That was why, when Rhea suddenly showed up asking for a job, he felt that there was no way he could trust her. Louie had originally planned to turn her down in person and take the opportunity to provoke Carter while he was at it. But then George casually mentioned that she was like a sister to him, which completely stunned him.

Rhea responded, “I’m here for myself. My work has nothing to do with my personal life. I’ll sign any non- disclosure agreement you want. You’ve seen my résumé. If you’re unsure, you may verify every project I’ve listed. I was there from start to finish, choosing the investments myself.”

She had applied for a risk consultant role. It was basically venture capital work–something she could do with her eyes closed.

Her job scope was to scout the right ventures and steer the company clear of risky deals.

George chimed in casually, “She pulled in 800 million dollars on one deal when she was 17. The net profit margin was 62%.”

That one had been for Liam.

Back then, word had spread through the investment industry. Everyone was saying that the Ravelle family’s daughter was an investment prodigy.

Louie stared at her, stunned. His heart skipped a beat. He suddenly remembered a line on her résumé and asked, Ms. Ravelle, did you used to work in Draventh?”

“I’m from Draventh,” Rhea said softly. “The Ravelle family in Draventh.”

Louie felt like his pulse flatlined.

Every businessperson had heard of them, and just about every influential family had tried to forge a connection.

Half an hour later, George headed out first.

Just as he reached the door, Rhea caught up and said, “George, let me buy you dinner.”

Whether it was for delivering the gifts or for delivering that one line that flipped the entire interview, she felt like she owed him.
