Chapter 206
There was no Vellure Dental. Dexter had gone back on his word.
Lauren was panting, unsure of how to respond.
Nathan suddenly smiled. “Vellure Dental? You mean the one owned by Mr. Hopper?”
As Carter looked at him, a sinking unease settled over him.
Nathan pulled out his phone. “Going through the documents would just waste time. Fortunately, I know Mr. Hopper. It would be easier to just give him a call. I can also get some insight on how he ended up giving the partnership to Ms. Thayer.”
After saying that, he was about to dial the number when Lauren suddenly yelled.
“Don’t!”
Her piercing voice made everyone jump.
Carter frowned.
Lauren snapped back to herself. “Don’t call him. It’s not the right time to call him now. It’s probably the middle of the night over there.”
Smiling, Louie asked, “So, is it Vellure Dental or not? If it really is, we’ll need to build a good relationship with Mr. Jamison so we can secure some overseas trade as well.”
Lauren panicked. She couldn’t believe that Nathan actually knew Dexter.
Her face paled. “You’ve got it wrong. I didn’t negotiate with Vellure Dental. It’s… Shelby Dental.”
“It really is Shelby Dental?” The reporters were shocked. “That’s a shady company! Mr. Jamison, you’re actually going to work with them?”
Carter glared at Lauren.
Didn’t she say it was Vellure Dental? Didn’t she guarantee that she could secure the deal? So, how did it suddenly become Shelby Dental?
Louie scoffed. “This is ridiculous. You held this grand banquet, and I thought it was to celebrate some impressive partnership. Mr. Jamison, even if Jamison Group has run into trouble, you still shouldn’t compromise your moral standards to work with a company like that.”
Opportunists immediately chimed in, “Exactly. Shelby Dental isn’t even a third–rate company anymore, let alone one that could bring in any profit. If anything goes wrong, it could affect the reputation of businesses in Colburn.”

Some added, “Desperate measures like this never work.”
Those who secretly mocked Carter felt vindicated. It seemed that Carter had sunk so low as to rely on a partnership like this to save his company.
Carter felt utterly humiliated. If he had known that Lauren had brought this kind of deal, he would never have invited Nathan in the first place.
Now, the looks Nathan and Rhea were giving him were laced with ridicule.
Those around him, who had been so afraid of Carter making a comeback, suddenly lost all pretense of flattery after witnessing the spectacle.
“Sorry, Mr. Jamison. My son’s home today. I need to go.”
“Mr. Jamison, we’ll take our leave as well.”
Before the banquet had even begun, it was already over.
Lauren stood in place, feeling her cheeks burn. Others could look down on her, but she refused to
