Chapter 219
“Rhea, let’s go,” Ruby said as she got to her feet.
Carter’s eyes remained glued to her and Rhea. He started to say, “Rhea, you-
However, Rhea didn’t even look his way. She asked Arielle and Adrian, “Do you want to come and play at my place?”
They immediately took her hands. “Of course!”
She didn’t need to ask Carter for permission. They were still married, after all, which meant that she had the right to take the kids out for fun.
Naturally, Carter wouldn’t stop them. Once the kids returned home, he could take the chance to ask them more about the Ravelle family.
Priscilla’s expression was hideous by now. She said, “Maybe we should just end things here. I’ll have another get–together some other time.”
The women were all younger than her, so they didn’t object. They bid her goodbye and left. Soon, she, Marcus, Carter, and Lauren were the only ones left.
Priscilla looked at Marcus. “Don’t bring just anyone home in the future.”
After saying that, she left. She didn’t glance at Lauren even once.
Marcus said, “My mom only cares about these socialite games. Don’t take it to heart.”
Carter said, “Don’t worry about it. We’ll head out, then.”
“Have a safe drive.”
In the car, Carter asked Lauren, “Did you get into a fight with them?”
She replied, “Everything was fine at first, but Rhea just had to tell everyone about her and your relationship. They all assumed I was a homewrecker, so…”
Carter couldn’t believe that this was Rhea’s doing again! He wondered if she was determined to ruin them. She already had a fancy family background. So, why couldn’t she just stop coming after them?
He was angry, “Steer clear of her from now on.”
Rhea’s status was now set in stone, so Lauren wouldn’t come out on top by crossing her.
“I’m already doing my best to put up with this.” Lauren lowered her head. “I’ll keep doing it, though.

He looked at her and caressed her face. “I’m sorry about this. You won’t need to suffer through this once I gain a foothold in Draventh and my business takes off. The Ravelle family might be in politics, but there are still things that they can’t meddle in.”
Logically speaking, he should be wary of the Ravelle family’s influence. But in hindsight, families like theirs had clear weaknesses. If anything were to happen to one of them, the whole family would be affected.
Carter looked out the window as a bold idea came to him. Instead of waiting for the Ravelles to come after him so they could avenge Rhea, perhaps he could strike preemptively.
Liam returned to the Ravelle residence early that day. As soon as he set foot inside, he saw two children standing before him. They said cheerily, “Hi, Grandpa!”
He was stunned. He asked Philip, “Whose children are they?”
Philip smiled and said, “These are Ms. Ravelle’s stepchildren, sir.”
That meant that they were Carter’s kids.
Liam had a fierce expression as he scrutinized the children. “Don’t call me Grandpa.”
However, Arielle wasn’t afraid of him. “Should I call you Grandpa Good–Looking, then?”
Liam broke out of character. “Oh, you…”
Ruby then approached him and said, “They’re lovely children.”
Liam didn’t say anything else. Seeing them reminded him of Carter, and that only soured his mood.
When Marcus‘ father, Stuart Cain, arrived home, he summoned Marcus.
Marcus asked, “You wanted to see me, Dad?”
