Aiden, Peter, and Carter were all chatting with Rhea, completely ignoring Lauren, who was trying hard to make her tears fall.

Carter and Lauren talked with Peter and Aiden until 10:00 pm, after which Peter and Aiden retired to their guest rooms.

Lauren had been waiting for Carter the whole time. “Carter, shall we head to bed too?”

He thought for a moment before he said, “I’ll check on the kids. You can rest first.”

Lauren couldn’t stop him.

However, Rhea was with the kids.

Lauren returned to her room, feeling uneasy. She didn’t shut the door. Instead, she kept listening to the sounds from upstairs.

She waited and waited, but by 12:30 am, Carter still hadn’t returned.

She couldn’t sit still any longer and called for Scarlett. “Go find Carter. Tell him that he should rest

now.”
