Arielle and Adrian recoiled at Lauren’s approach. Their eyes were wide with fear as they looked at

her.

Adrian shoved Lauren hard and yelled, “Go away! Don’t touch Arielle!”

Lauren’s ankle hadn’t fully healed. The push sent her tumbling backward, slamming her head against the edge of a cabinet.

Just then, Carter appeared and saw Adrian push Lauren down aggressively.

“Adrian!”

The boy shivered. “Dad…”

The two kids immediately ran to Carter with their arms outstretched, hoping for a comforting hug.

However, Carter pushed them away and said firmly, “Stop crying! You push and yell at people, and you have the nerve to cry?”

Tears streaked Arielle’s face. “Dad! She yelled at us first!”

A maid helped Lauren to her feet.

Lauren looked pale. “I’m fine. Carter. Don’t be too harsh on the kids.”

Arielle’s eyes widened. “Lies! You’re all lying!”

Carter had no patience for their defenses. “Show me the surveillance footage.”

Scarlett pretended to check it, then said after a moment, “Mr. Jamison, I think the charging cord was accidentally unplugged while cleaning. The camera wasn’t recording.”

Frowning, Carter looked at the two children and scolded, “Regardless, you cannot push anyone. Apologize to your mom right now!”

“We won’t! She started yelling at us for no reason. Why should we apologize?” Arielle shielded Adrian. “Adrian only pushed her because he was scared she’d hit me!”

“Pushing someone is still not acceptable!” Carter snapped.

Lauren rushed forward. “Calm down, Carter. They didn’t mean it.”
