He had postponed several surgeries to rush over, only to end up in that situation. He was angry.

Rhea was even angrier. To her, Carter and Lauren were like persistent, irritating flies.

Carter froze for a long moment at Rhea’s response. It was clear that Lauren had really crossed the

line this time.

He turned to Glen and instructed, “Go get Lauren.”

Glen quickly drove back to the hospital.

In the hospital, Lauren waited in the hallway. When she saw Glen, she assumed that Carter had returned.

“Where is Carter? Did he get thrown out? I knew that Rhea would never genuinely want to help my

kids!” Lauren was worked up.

Glen’s expression was impassive. “Mr. Jamison wants you to go to the Ravelle residence.”

Lauren froze. “Why? What am I supposed to do there?”

“You’ll know when you get there,” Glen replied.

She had a vague sense that Rhea probably wanted to tattle on her. “Adrian is still in surgery. Someone needs to stay here.”

“Mr. Jamison wants you there. Besides, Ms. Huber has arrived. If anything happens here, she will contact Mr. Jamison immediately. You need to go now.” Glen’s tone left no room for argument.

Even if Lauren didn’t want to go, she had no choice.

On the way to the Ravelle residence, Lauren noticed many cars overtaking them, all following the

same route.

The quiet road led to the grand entrance of the Ravelle residence. Those same cars were parked outside, forming a neat line.

Lauren stepped out and hesitantly approached Carter.

“Carter, if she doesn’t want to see you, we should just go back. The kids are still waiting for us,” she reasoned.

Lauren’s emotions flared. She blurted, “She wants me to kneel? Why-”

Lauren parted her lips. “Carter, you actually believe them?”

“I said kneel!” Carter roared. “Everything was fine, but you had to stir up trouble. If something happens to Adrian, I’ll hold it all against you!”

Lauren’s anguish was palpable. “He’s my son too!”

Carter’s voice was icy. “So can’t you kneel for his sake?”

His words left Lauren speechless. She turned toward the wide gates of the Ravelle residence, feeling resentful.

With a thud, she dropped to her knees, her back straight.

Just then, people began to step down from those luxury cars.

Liora led the way, followed by Valerie, Carolyn, and Kate. Their eyes were fixed on Lauren like they were staring at a filthy insect in a gutter.
