Glen glanced at the bank card in Lauren’s hand.

No one could resist sudden, easy money, especially in jobs like theirs, where they worked for someone else with little room to grow.
Lauren persuaded him, “Relax. I won’t tell Carter about this. You can keep the money and use it
however you want.‘
Glen exhaled before smiling. “If I did that, I’d lose my job. Sorry. You can keep your money.”
At the end of the day, he worked for Carter. Lauren’s obsession with that document envelope had to
be bad news for Carter.
As an employee, how could he go against his boss?
Lauren’s frustration nearly broke through her composed expression. “Aren’t you working for money? Even if you take this, no one will ever know. We just have to keep it quiet.”
“You betrayed and deceived Mr. Jamison. I can’t accept that,” Glen said, then rolled the window up.
Lauren’s blood boiled. If she couldn’t bribe Glen, there was a good chance he would go straight to
Carter later.
She spun on her heel and called Holly.
After a brief conversation, she hung up, gritted her teeth, and glared at the car.

That afternoon, while Carter went to see Terrance, Glen rushed to find Lauren, panic in his eyes. What did you do? Where did you take my girlfriend?”

Lauren was eating in the hospital cafeteria. She slowly looked up. “What? What does your girlfriend going missing have to do with me?”
Glen knew that Lauren was behind this.
His girlfriend had called him, telling him to deliver an envelope to the person who needed it. It was a threat, plain as day.
Lauren smiled. “I gave you a chance. I’m no longer giving you the five million dollars. Now, the question is, do you want to see your girlfriend again? Of course, you can go tell Carter I threatened you, but if something happens to me, your girlfriend isn’t going anywhere either.”
Glen clenched his fists.

After a long pause, he shut his eyes. “Fine. I’ll get you the envelope. Release my girlfriend!”
Lauren set down her spoon. “Go now.”
Glen dashed out of the hospital. Meanwhile, Lauren followed behind him at her own calm pace.
As Glen passed the inpatient department, Carter happened to see him. “Bring me that envelope.”
Lauren’s eyes flickered. “Carter, Adrian’s asking for you. Let’s go check on him first.”
However, Carter ignored her.
He would settle things with Lauren later. First, he had to see what Rhea had given him.
Once Carter entered the ward, Lauren found an excuse to slip out.
At the end of the corridor, Glen handed the envelope to her. She snatched it and opened it
immediately.
