Chapter 292
“I…” Glen hesitated. “Never mind. It’s not a big deal.”
Carter didn’t pay it much mind.
At that moment, Peter finally realized what Carter had just said. His eyes widened. “Lauren told you to watch out for me? She actually used such a disgusting way to drive a wedge between us?”
He wanted nothing more than to gouge his own eyes out and sew his mouth shut. If he hadn’t fanned the flames back then, maybe Carter and Rhea wouldn’t have ended up in this mess.
The more he thought about it, the more Peter felt guilty toward Carter. “I helped her back then since we grew up together, and she was all alone. I never expected that she would do this behind my back.”
Listening to Peter, Carter felt that Lauren had become almost a stranger. She wasn’t like this before.
But now, there was no time for him to dwell on Lauren. He had to secure his marriage with Rhea and restore warmth and stability to his family. Everything else could wait.
“Peter, could you stay here with the bodyguards and watch Adrian for me?” This was the first time
Carter had ever asked for a favor like this.
Peter readily agreed, “Of course. Don’t worry. Aiden’s a doctor. He can take care of things.”
At the mention of Aiden, Carter asked, “Do you guys prefer Rhea?”
“Of course. I was blind before. Now I understand that time really changes people,” Peter said, referring to Lauren.
Carter thought for a moment. “I see.”
He cared about appearances and naturally leaned toward a partner that his friends approved of. If his peers disliked his partner, taking her out would only embarrass him.
Just as Carter was about to leave, Terrance appeared, beaming. “Mr. Jamison, Professor Ravelle contacted us, saying he can perform the surgery for Adrian tomorrow.”
Carter’s face lit up. “Really?”
Adrian could recover fully without any complications?
He thought that Liam was truly a man of his word.
At that thought, Carter felt even more eager to have a father–in–law like him.
“Thank you!” Carter said sincerely.

Terrance was also delighted. After all, he had the opportunity to assist in surgery with an expert like David. “Don’t mention it. With Professor Ravelle as chief surgeon, everything will go perfectly.”
After Terrance left, Carter’s joy was unmistakable.
“Adrian, I’m going home for a bit. You have to listen to Mr. Henderson, okay?” Carter had a plan.
Adrian blinked quietly. He missed Rhea but knew better than to speak up.
Carter soon arrived home.
