When Ruby went to check on Rhea, Liam called over his secretary, Cody Jordan. He instructed, “Get David here to operate on Carter’s son. And make sure the press catches it. Did you record my conversation with Carter just now?”

“Yes, Mr. Ravelle.” Cody had stood at a distance, secretly capturing everything from Carter’s arrival to his departure.

“Good.”

Liam had plans, of course. Otherwise, why would he have been so nice to Carter?

He understood what Ruby was trying to say.

If the Ravelle family wanted the divorce to go through, there were a thousand ways they could use to keep Carter from resisting.

But what about the divorce?

Meanwhile, in the ward, Carter looked somewhat absent–minded.

He had no idea that the moment Liam showed him such a friendly demeanor, he had already stepped straight into Liam’s trap and was destined to lose.

At that moment, Carter couldn’t shake the thought of George and Rhea. If something were going on between them, reconciling with Rhea would be almost impossible.

“Don’t worry. Just explain things to Rhea properly. It’ll be fine. Besides, I think her father was quite nice to you.” Peter thought so too.

Carter frowned. “Do you really think that he has no issue with me?”

Peter considered for a moment. “Even if he does, as long as your relationship with Rhea is solid, he can’t say anything. After all, she went against her family to become a stepmother to your kids back then.”

At this thought, Carter gained some confidence. “Rhea seems to be really ill. I want to bring Arielle and check on her later.”

Peter nodded. “Go ahead. Aiden and I will watch Adrian for you.”

“Thanks, Peter,” Carter said.

“Oh, please. We’re friends.”

Carter paused. “Peter, I need to ask you something.”

“What?”

“Have you ever had contact with Rhea?”

Peter frowned. “Why would you even think that? My previous impression of Rhea wasn’t exactly good. You know that.”
