Rhea was discharged and returned home that day.

George was mindful of boundaries and only escorted Rhea to the gates.

Nathan got out of the car. “Aren’t you coming in?”

George lit a cigarette and stood by the car. “No.”

He had already expressed his feelings. He felt that it was enough that she knew about it. He wanted to give Rhea space and time to handle her own matters.

From a distance, Rhea reached the front door and instinctively glanced back toward the gates.

George’s gaze met hers, and he gave a slight smile. At least now she was aware of him.

Once Rhea entered the house, Nathan asked, “Are you planning to seriously pursue Rhea?”

George’s voice was low as he said, “Carter is in the way.‘

“My dad has his own plans regarding him. If you want to pursue Rhea, you should talk to your mom

first.”

George glanced at him. “Do you think she can control me?”

He respected Cynthia, but that didn’t mean that she could interfere in his personal affairs.

“Just make sure you know what you’re doing. But if you hurt Rhea, I won’t stand by and do nothing.”

George frowned. “Then why didn’t you do anything about Carter?”

“That’s because Rhea cared about him at the time.”

The Ravelles were holding onto all their anger, planning to unleash it once Rhea’s divorce was finalized.

Many things weren’t that simple. They couldn’t just lash out recklessly. For a prominent family like theirs, even the cruelest actions must be carried out perfectly, leaving no room for criticism.

Nathan turned back and entered the house.

Ruby was there too. She called him over. “Come here.”

After Nathan sat, Ruby asked, “What did George say?”

“He likes Rhea,” Nathan answered simply.

Feeling awkward, Rhea lay on her side.

Ruby then asked her, “And what about you?”

Rhea didn’t respond for a long moment.

“Rhea?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m asking you a question.”

Ruby sat on the edge of the bed and said, “Honestly, your dad and I like George. If he’s around you in the future, we would feel reassured. But most importantly, you have to like him yourself. Don’t rush into things just because of your situation, okay?”

“Mom, I’m not thinking about that right now.‘

“Alright, then just rest for now.” Feeling concerned for Rhea, Ruby didn’t push it further.

After Ruby and Nathan left, Rhea’s phone vibrated. It was a WhatsApp message from George. “I had some fruit flown in. They’ll be sent to you.”

Rhea hesitated, then typed back two words. “Thank you.”
