Although Arielle wasn’t Liam’s biological granddaughter, no one could resist an adorable kid.
Liam smiled and said into the phone, “Hi, Arielle. It’s so late. Why did you call me?”
He thought that Carter had asked her to call.
But Arielle spoke cautiously. “Grandpa, I want to tell you a secret, and I need your help.”
“A secret?” Liam pinched the corner of his eyes. “What kind of secret?”
Arielle hesitated for a moment. “Um… My birth mother is Lauren.”
Liam’s tone grew darker. “Mm–hmm.”
“She might be pregnant,” Arielle said, her voice tinged with distress. “Grandpa, can you help us? Adrian and I don’t like her.”
She still wanted Carter to be with Rhea. Even if they weren’t together, she didn’t want Lauren
involved with him.
Liam’s gaze darkened, turning dangerously sharp. Nevertheless, he smiled and asked, “And how did you find out?”
“I overheard. Dad left after dropping Adrian home. He probably went to see Lauren.
Arielle spoke clearly and confidently. Liam did not doubt that it wasn’t a child’s prank or lie.
“Alright. I hear you. I’ll help you, but don’t tell Rhea about this, okay?”
Arielle’s face lit up. “Okay! I won’t say anything, Grandpa. I don’t want to upset Mom.”
“Good girl. Now get some sleep.”
“Good night, Grandpa!”
“Good night.”
After Liam hung up, his gaze darkened to a frightening depth. He lit a cigarette and let out a chuckle. “Carter…”
It seemed that that man was digging his own grave. He had wronged Rhea and repeatedly entangled himself with another woman. And now, that woman was even pregnant!
Cody stood by, waiting for instructions.
“Find out which hospital took in Lauren, but don’t alert anyone yet,” Liam ordered.

Cody nodded. “Understood.”
“Also, arrange a banquet in my name. Invite about 80% of Draventh’s elite. And don’t forget to send an invitation to Carter’s peers in Colburn. Schedule it for the weekend.”
“Yes, Mr. Ravelle,” Cody replied and left promptly.
At the hospital, Carter was helping Lauren with her bowl of oatmeal when he received a call from
Liam.
He tensed. “I need to take this.”
Lauren noticed the caller ID. “Just answer it here. I won’t interrupt. People keep passing by in the hallway anyway.”
Carter thought about it. “You’re right.”
He quickly answered. “Hello, Liam?”
Upon hearing Carter address Liam so familiarly, Lauren tightened her grip on the spoon.
“It’s quite late. Do you need me for something?” he asked politely.
“It’s nothing serious,” Liam said.
“May I ask what it is?”
“You’re officially my son–in–law now, but I never held a banquet to properly introduce you to our circle. I’m free this weekend and have invited some guests. It’s a chance for you to meet people and expand your network.”
